So worried about my injections for Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
I'm from Ireland. Can anyone tell me the number of required injections I need to receive for my travels in August and any tips with dealing with them: They freak me out and I've passed out as a young lad before. Are they expensive? Any help is appreciated... 😊
Reply to this Hello Dmcguinn 😊
Where do u live? If u live in Dublin u can go to the tropical clinic. It is on the street just opposite Bewleys on Grafton Street. Get the exact address in the yellow pages or the internet. Dont got to a regular GP. They have a tendancy to over vaccinate and also they dont usually to know much about travel medication.
Unfortunately the vaccinations cost something. Last time I had vaccinations there was 10 years ago so I dont know exactly how much they will cost. I would guess around 100 Euros altogether. There will be around 3 or 4 injections altogether with a booster shot for Hepatitis A within 6 months after. The vaccinations are not too terrible. I am scared of injections and I survived it. It barely hurts at all.
U may also need Malaria prevention pills. The Tropical Clinic will tell u which ones.
U can get specific information about the different vaccinations needed for each country on the World Health Organisation website so google that.

Reply to this Thanks. will the 3 or 4 injections happen in the same arm one after the other?Unfortunately, it's not the pain. It is the dizziness and fainting that freaks me out. thanks again.
Reply to this I think they would put them in different arms if u want or another part of your body if that is what u prefer.
And there was no dizziness and fainting when I got them. I had a stiff arm from one of them but that was the only side effect.
If u want to reduce the number of injections ask the doctor to give u the Typhoid vaccine in pill form.

Reply to this I think you should go to the World Health Organisation (WHO) website to check more information. However just some of the parts of Vietnam (i.e. Mekong Delta, high mountain areas or areas lack of medical condition) might give you infections, other areas is fine to travel around. Otherwise you could purchase travel insurance to make sure that everything is well prepared before the trip.
