hanoi is exciting, fast and the People are great. Are you into photography? I have several friends and they enjoy a day of photo. Check with www.stayvietnam.com Ask for Van, they don't charge or take commissions. Good service and honest. Reply to this

If you intend to stay 1 week in Hanoi, you should stay in the old quarter. There are many hotels or mini hotel for you to choose: The prince, Majestic Salute, Church. Reply to this

My experience of Hanoi wasn't good. Compared to all the other Asian cities I have been to it was by far the worst. There is not much to do, you won't find the people as easy as in the South of the country, there is more traffic than I have ever witnessed....crossing the road is eventful. Its the gateway to the North, Halong Bay and Sapa. But this is just my experience, but I have heard similar stories from other people.

Personally if I had a week in Vietnam I would concentrate on the lower half of the country. Maybe the Central Highlands, Saigon....or if you are staying up North then maybe Hanoi 1 night, then head up to Halong Bay and Sapa for trekking..? totally depends on what your into.

One good thing about Hanoi, as Chuck says if your into photography you will some awesome pictures. Reply to this

Hi Laur4,

Sorry for your bad experience trip in Hanoi. Many thanks for your input to me. As a new traveler to Vietnam, I really need any advice and suggest from all of you. I just make a 3 days trip before going to Dha Nang and Hoi An. Maybe if I have a time I will also visit Nha Trang. I appreciate if you would share your trip story for my list trip.
Thanks again Laur4.... wish you have a great day. Reply to this

Hanoikids is a volunteer group of students based in Hanoi, Vietnam. We provide a free tour guiding service for English speaking travellers in Hanoi and its suburban.
Our member will act as travel-mates who will accompany you to popular tourist sites in Hanoi and also to many behind-the-scene streets and corners. We will give you a brief introduction about different topics related to Hanoi's history and cultural aspects as well as the local people's lifestyle and willing to answer all of your questions (if we can).
We are not a travel agent, so we do not operate any tour and sell any service. Travelling with Hanoikids, you only have to pay the entrance fees if applicable and fee for transportation (if there is) Reply to this

Ha noi is a very fantastic city and there are many hotels located in the tourism centre called Old Quarter. The roomrate is up on your budget, from 15$ to 2000$ or more. However it seems to be strange to you when you decide to come and stay in a mini hotel but the services are like star rated hotels, especially tours. So i recommend you can ask for advices from some reputable tour operators in Ha noi. You can visit this site to check some tours information:
Have fun

Hi again,
I understand that it's not easy to manage finacial for a long trip. However, i think that for tours and hotels it's not so expensive, the problem is transportation like air tickets. I am sure that in Ha Noi, you can find our the hotel as you expect at rate of 30$ or less but still clean, and quality. If you find it difficult, i think i can help you to get the hotel in Ha Noi and give you some advices for your finacial when travelling here. Here is my site
