This is Yiyi from Shanghai China who is planning on traveling Ningxia Province during the Chinese National holiday, in when it is hardly to get discount flights tickets, therefore, would like to take train for saving cost, and 4-6 backpackers will be prefect to share car rental, accommodation etc, if you were interested in the tour, pleas drop me a line by cranberring@yahoo.com.cn (same address as MSN) before 20th Sep 2005.

30th Sep2005 Depart from Shanghai to Zhongwei (The western City of of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture) by train K360 depart at 22:00pm. It takes around 31 Hours.
D1 Spent rest hours in the train

D2 5:20 am arrive at ZhongweiBreakfastGo to Gaomiao Temple on foot.(15RMB for toll) Contact with tourism agency about camel & guideSunny day-option A; Rainy day-option B; still will be raining tomorrow-option CA-go to Tingly desert by riding camel (around 300-400 per camel with a guide and takes 4-5hs) Accommodation in the campsite of desert.---campelAdmire sun raise in the early morning then move to Tonghu prairieB-Go through Tingly desert and go to Tonghu prairie by car. Accommodation in the campsite of prairie. Admire sun raise in the early morning then back to Zhongwei bus station by riding camel.C-what a pity, change to visit Xumishan Grottos in Guyuan(have to contact with local agency about accommodation in there, cos I did find any information from my guide book)

Following the information of Ningxia Province, China

Ning is short for Ningxia Hui Clan Autonomous region. It lies in the western part of the Yellow River. It is 66,000 square kilometers in area, with a population of 4.8 million. It is the main inhabiting region of the people in Hui Clan. Its topography is mainly plateaus and hilly lands. They occupy 75 percent in area. The plains here occupy more than 25 percent. The Yellow River flows in the northern part. It has a semi-moist continental climate in temperate zone. The resource of the coal is amongst the important place in China. There are also phosphorus, gypsum, iron, petroleum and salt. Its major industries are coal mining, electric power, machinery and metallurgical industry. In agriculture, there is wheat and hemp. Tan sheepskin, matrimony-vine, licorice are well known both in China and aboard. Baolan Railway runs through the northern part, and the highway system is convenient too. Ningxia has a long history. There are a lot of historic relics. The places of interest are Yin chuanhai Tower, Tomb of Xixia¡¯s monarch, Zhongwei Temple, 108 towers in Qingtong Gorge, caves in Xumi Mountain, and the mosque in Tongxin. The traditional specialties are Tan sheepskin, Helanshan inkstone, Facai in Tongxin and Haiyuan, matrimony-vine in Zhongwei and Zhongning.
