Need info on flying from Nepal to Tibet, should we wait to book in Nepal or do it here at home?
We are traveling to Kathmandu in late March & want to spend a week in Lhasa. Should we book our flight to Lhasa at home before we go and expect to become part of a tour or arrange for a guide in either Kathmandu or upon our arrival in Lhasa? or should we wait and make flight and tour guide arrangements upon arrival in Kathmandu? We have read that everyone traveling to Lhasa must be part of a tour group or at minimum have a Chinese guide. this is the only reason we're asking about a guide or group.
Does anyone know if there are daily flights or 1 or 2 a week?
Any suggestions on hotels in Lhasa? We'd prefer to stay in a place run by Tibetans but would like a higher end.
Thanks
Nancy & Mark
Reply to this Personally I have no idea, but I do remember that Let's Go! China (the travel book!) has a heap of information on Tibet, along with all the rules for getting in etc.
I'd say if nobody here can give you a good answer, try the book then maybe try and find an expat board - though I doubt many foreigners will be expats in Tibet or Nepal. Possibly you could try a Mt Everest Climbers' BBS, as they will have all gone through one or the other.
Good luck!

Thank you very much. I have never heard of the Let's Go! China book and will buy one. We have been to China and have 2 China travel books and there is hardly anything on Tibet in those.
