Hi

With regard to the visa www.hcilondon.net has all the forms you need and has all the information on how to apply for the visa. I had read many horror stories about going to the embassy in person and getting turned away for several days in a row so I applied for mine by post and it took about 2 1/2 weeks to come through. For the Indian references you need on the form using hotels is quite acceptable. I'm not going to Goa so I'm afraid I can't help you with the rest of post but have a great time when you go. I was at India House, the embassy in London on Monday, and the queue (as always) was massive, but the service seemed more efficient, and I picked up a visa for myself and a friend without a problem. Had the passports back, with visas inside by 10.50. However, for the sake of the price of recorded delivery, if you have time I would definately say a postal application is hassle free, as long as you fill in the form and follow the instructions exactly, there will be no problems.

For direct flights to Goa, you need to fly charter, and I don't blame you for not wanting monarch! I would usually fly scheduled to Bombay and then get an internal flight down. But last year when I was just visiting for a couple of weeks decided to save on time and flew Thompson, and they were really quite acceptable as charter airlines in cattle class go.

Where to stay in Goa depends very much on what you are wanting from your travels, and when you plan to go and who with. I have spent quite a lot of time in the North, working in Mapusa and living in both Calangute and Baga, so will be happy to give more info and try to assist if you could give a little more detail as to what you are looking for from Goa 😊

Good Luck and Enjoy, it is wonderful 😊
