BEWARE OF JIT'S TRAVEL, IPOH !!!
16 years ago, December 27th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #24694
Hello all,
I'm writing this to warn you people out there, never ever deal wih Jit's Travel, a travel agency in Ipoh, Perak. I make a BIG MISTAKE when I decide to purchase my flight ticket through this agency. I paid RM2000 deposit for 4 flight tickets KUL-Delhi by Sri Lankan Airlines in early October. My scheduled flight is on Dec 8, 2007. I was told that full settlement must be done 14 days prior to departure. When I didn't receive any call from them on day 14, I called them and was asked to pay the balance at the agency. I paid the full amount (plus additional because according to them, airfare had incresed) and submitted all passports for visa processing 13 days before departure. They said that they will call me when my tickets and visas are ready. I waited for 5 days but they never called. When I called, they said that the visa processing was slow and asked me to be patience. I called them everyday and was given the same answer. 4 days before departure and I still didn't get my tickets yet. 3 days before departure, they called me at 4.30pm saying that out of 4 visa applications, mine was rejected because of some error in my newly renewed passport. It seems that the immigration had mistakenly put the expiry date as 2007, when it was supposed to be 2012. Because of that, they couldn't issue my flight ticket. Being very panic, I collected my passport at the agency and headed straight to the immigration. I fired the immigration officer for the stupid error and within 30 minutes they issued me a new passport. I informed the agency about it but they told me that it was too late to get a visa because it need 2 working days to process (it was Thursday at that time). I told them that by hook or by crook, I must fly to Delhi on Saturday because I have made confirmed (and already paid) reservations for trains and bus journeys through out India. So, early dawn on Friday, I travelled from Ipoh to KL and go to the embassy. I discussed with the officer, begging them to get my express visa. I have to pay double to get it done in 1 day. I called the agency at 9.30am on Friday, asking them to issue the flight tickets as my visa can be ready on that day itself. It was more than 24 hours before departure. Unfortunately, the agency said that I couldn't get my tickets anymore. They asked me to pay more if I still want to fly to Delhi (by a different airlines), 4 days later than my original departure, and coming back 2 days earlier. In other words, they want me to pay RM300 extra per ticket for a holiday with 6 days shorter period. Of course I didn't agree and after some investigation, I find out that they kept my passport one whole week at their office. They only send it to the embassy 6 days before my scheduled departure and they colledcted it 3 days before departure. If they had send my passport as soon as I submitted them, definitely the error on my passport can be detected earlier and there is still time to ammend everything. Also, if they have filled up the visa application form carefully (they said that I don't have to fill it up, they will do it for me because I have paid their commision for the visa application), surely they have noticed the error in my passport. From a trusted source, I also find out that by right when I paid my deposit, the agency can issue my flight tickets straight away but they didn't do it. Instead, the deposit that I have paid was used to settle the similar problem of the agency's earlier customer. When a new victim comes in, then the agency will use his/her deposit to settle my case. It was just like a cycle and used to be the agency's tradition. I also find out that my tickets were actually cancelled by the agency in order to substitute them for other desperate customer willing to pay any amount which the agency asked. The sum of it was, my many months of planning to go to India was cancelled because I couldn't get my flight tickets. When I lodge a complain to the authority (FOMCA), I was very surprise to find out that FOMCA's officer was very calm to hear my complain because according to her, Jit's Travel had been cheating their customers every now and then. FOMCA even give suggestion to the Tourism Ministry to stop this agency's business permit, but strangely, Jit's Travel still operating and keep on cheating their customers. I really regret for dealing with them. This agency is very popular among Indians and Sikhs because they are the one and only travel agency in Ipoh with a Sikh as the owner. I hope with this post, travellers, especially Indians and Sikhs from Ipoh or Perak will be more careful. Thank you. Reply to this
