Hi,
I'm planning a trip to Malaysia in Feb. 2008 and my flight leaves me in Hat Yai airport at 8:30am. I don't want to wait for the train at 4pm, no morning train on my date and i don't want to arrive in GT at night...
-Does anyone know how I would go about taking a bus? What are the steps?
-Do I first travel to the Malay border (Padang Besar or Bukit Kayu) town and find buses from there?
-Which border town is better?
-When do buses leave for GT....do you know the company websites?
-When can I expect to get to Georgetown at the earilest?
I'm very clueless.
Thanks! Will
Reply to this hey will
there are direct busses from hat yai to bt ,kl even singapure.
try to book it at some of the guesthouses or travelagents...there should be plenty of them.
but i, personaly would recommend you the train - you will have more space for your own and its
a very, very beautiful scenery !!!
i once just went to the border (padang besar) by bus and treid to switch to another bus to continue,
the only problem was that there where no buses that stopped for me.
eventually i made it by hitchhicking which was quite cool caus i ended up in some village close to padang besar
and stayed there for almost a month ....
well you can also try to ask direkt at the airport for the busses or train
good luck

ps:hopefully a little less clueless 😊
Reply to this Hey,
Wondering if you might know about shared taxis to for Hat Yai to Butterworth? I've done more research and it seems people do the trip for visa runs.
Where do I find these shared taxis in Hat Yai?
Are they safe?
How much do they cost?
Thanks
Reply to this there´re plenty of mini buses ,if you mean that by shared taxi.... the best is if you ask in the airport or at same hotel in town
well ,i guess you could also go direct to the bus terminal
chuck di
good luck
