Vietnam- Where should I spend tet? North to south or south to north?
16 years ago, October 22nd 2007 No: 1 Msg: #21305
Hi!
I am going to be in Vietnam for Tet next year but its right near the end of my stay there before i go to Cambodia. Where would it be best to spend tet...in hanoi, saigon or halong bay?

Trying to decide whether i should travel from north to south or south to north..

At the moment i am planning on staying 3 nights hanoi, 2 nights halong bay, (fly to danang) 4 nights hoi an and 2 nights saigon (train danang to saigon). i will be flying out from either saigon or hanoi on the 8th..

Any advice would be really helpful, thanks! 😊

You should start your trip in Hanoi to enjoy the atmosphrere of Tet holiday here. I've have chance to spend my time on Tet and it made me surprised and fascinated to the way local people prepare for their traditional holiday. Vptour, a travel agent in Hanoi can help you to create your trip from north to south with special program on Tet, last Tet they did that very well. Hope you have a nice trip. You can visit thier website to decide your trip: vptour.com.vn Reply to this

Why don't you visit WEB tftravel.com.vn ?
I 'm a frequent client of TF TRAVEl cause I find their service good. You can find the best fares for air ticket as well as the accomadation without service fee. You can also send your request for a Vietnam tour via email. Hopefully you will have good suggestions.

I think you should spend your time in Ha Noi for tet holiday. I live in south of Viet Nam but I know it is better to have a tet holiday in the north.
Then you can come to south for traveling to Cambodian.
Hope you have fun in Viet Nam Reply to this

Don't spend your time in Hanoi during Tet because you will experience a boring time because there is nobody on the street lol Reply to this

Did you decide where to spend Tet? Wherever you go EVERYONE will be enjoying Tet - there will be very little open! Generally not the best time for Westerners to visit! I will be in Hoi An by Tet - there is a good crowd of ex-pats there. Mai. Reply to this

katcha,

Tet's holiday or Traditional Tet or Lunar Tet or Lunar New Year are the same. This festival is the most important period for Vietnamese people. This day is the occasion for a family reunion, all members of family who work far away arrange time to come back home to share the festival with family.

Normally, people have some days free to enjoy the festival. There are many traditional activities. The most happy day is not on Tet's holiday but some days before the Tet's holiday when all people are busy preparing for the important coming days. If you have been to Vietnam on Tet's holiday, please come and experience. You will never forget.

There is one thing, you should stay and enjoy the Tet in Hanoi, you will experience the multi-colors of life and love.

Best wish for your trip! Reply to this

I agree with the suggestion that you should spend some time to ẹnjoy Tet holiday in Hanoi first. Now, it is pretty cold in Hanoi but it brings many advantages to the growth of some kinds of flowers such as mandarin organge tree, peach tree, etc. During Tet holiday, traffic will not crowded and you can ẹnoy some ceremonies related to Tet Holiday. You can feel the beauty and the atmosphere of spring in Hanoi as well. Wish you have a incredible trip! Reply to this
