Three River Gorge

Has anyone been to the three river gorge recently in China? I was told it was not worth going to because 2/3 of it is already gone. Any information would be great!

If you are looking for 3 days of rest during a long trip the boat trip provides that along with upscale service. However, if you've seen other more spectactular scenery the gorges are disappointing. The river is very commercial, dirty and polluted so does not really offer much to look at for two days. The river banks are an eyesore combination of old buildings being torn down and new buildings going up. The dam is interesting, but is it worth the money and three-day trip?
If a traveler had a limited schedule and budget I'd suggest a trip to Yangshuo or Longsheng for some beautiful scenery and a relaxing pace instead of the river trip. Reply to this

The meaning of visiting the the Three Gorges is not the scenery itself but the historical function of water conservancy. Reply to this
