Nepal - Planning to trek the Annapurna region in the first 2 weeks then trek around the Everest region in the last 2 weeks of
December.

Will it be be too cold to trek in late December or some of the paths impassible due to Snow?

Thanks

Ya, I was there over Christmas a number of years ago and Thorang La was closed due to snow; likely the Sanctuary will be the same. You can still have a lovely walk up to Jomsom and back though. Be prepared for -10,15 at night and +15,20 during the day! Last time I went for the months of October (Khumbu) and November (Annapurna Circuit) and it was bloody, bloody brilliant :-) In 2 weeks I am off to Vietnam: curry and espresso rather than dhal bat and milky instant coffee!! i'm going to trek to EBC solo during the second two weeks of december. let me know if you want to team up with a guide and share a porter. 25yo/m. And you can see a previous trip i blogged to australia if you want to see the type of guy I am. www.mytb.org/Eriku
I think december will be okay, it's the end of the peak season, so expect it to dip below 0. If you can bare a little cold, the view will be worth it. Skies are supposed to be clear.
See you on the mountain Reply to this
