Hello, I am planning a trip to cambodia, thailand and bali. Can anyone give me some 1st timers adivice for Bali? Where to stay, what I \"must\" see and do? and of course any extra things you guys/girls can think of would be awesome!!! Thanks everyone...
Reply to this well, although I live in Indonesia but I've been to Bali just once. :P
It's not hard for u to find a place to stay coz u can find thousand places to stay from the cheapest to the most expensive. Or if u want to stay in a full-serviced and pleasure guaranteed place, u can stay in Hard Rock Hotel Bali. It's located on the pretty shore. U can walk to the shore and find many places to eat or just to hang around.
Reply to this Hey there Sonny, If you are looking for some great places to stay in Bali, having been there twice, and even though a bit older, the best place to stay in downtown I would suggest you stay at the Bounty Hotel. You can't go past it for a great deal of fun, mainly young people having a ball, and like every place in Bali they have their tour operators. However, if you are comfortable, and get to know a few people, then you will pick up cheap deals for trips out of Kuta to places like Lembogan Island, etc, out on the streets negotiating with the locals. They have 4 prices over there - The Dumb Tourist, The tourist who has been before, and then the locals who know what to do to bargain prices. The people are beautiful and friendly. Hawkers can sometimes be a hassle but you get over that. Enjoy the place it is wonderful
If you want to see a bit of Bali there are some great tours around the place - We went Quad biking and buggy riding last time - log on to my page and have a look, you will see it. It is terrific. Enjoy your time in Bali - it is a great place to go. You can walk around Kuta, along the beaches etc and you will never really get lost!!!
Reply to this Thank you all for your input! I think we have narrowed it down to staying in Ubud for a little bit then Benoa. We would like to take a side trip to Java also, anybody know if it is hard to get to, land or air? Again thank you all for taking the time to help me out!
Reply to this Hi there,
U can take bus from bali to java if u want to see lots about java.
Dont forget to visit Jogja, Solo...they have lots of Hindu temples there, if u like mountain....go to mt merapi who just erupted couple months ago.
You can meet farmers family there....so nice.
Have anice travelling mate.
Reply to this I spent 10 days in bali in May and actually just blogged about my 10 days there. it is amazing! Ubud is a good place to base yourself since it is in the middle of the island nothing is far away. In Ubud itself I highly recommend the monkey forest and seeing some dancing. I would recommend Kecak dancing- it was awesome! The food in Ubud is AMAZING. If you like to dive, Bali is a great place. I wish I could have gone to the shipwreck but not enough time. if you want to party Kuta is your mecca. Start at crazy Bounty and head to Double Six late at night. In terms of accommodation, you can get stuff that is dirt cheap or top end. I would hire a driver for the day to take you around to some temples and different sights- it is very cheap and easy. Or, rent a car/motorbike yourself. The roads and traffic aren't nearly as bad as other Southeast Asian countries. I don't know Benoa? If you have time Lombok is truly the backpacker haven of Indonesia, but not sure if that is your scene. If so a few days there would be time well spent. Have a great time! I wish I was there again!
Reply to this Yes you right Casey,
You can find incredible place to hang out there, ignore about the news from CNN or BBC, All Fine and safe in Bali and any places in Indonesia.
About the traffic I think you need a time for "orientation" but it's okay.....after you get use it you'll be a schumacher or valentino rossi...hehehe.
Ah ja you can visit hard rock in bali.....I have a good friend there and she will be give you a little guidance in bali.
If you have a plan to visit jakarta you can contact me.......I'll give you my number later.
Have a nice day mate
Reply to this If you're looking for a party then Kuta would be the place to be. Ubud is the cultural center and Lovina Beach is a mix of the two. Here's an excellent website for <snip> If you get the opportunity then go to Lombok and the Gili Islands. These are three of the most idylic places I've seen
