Here i am Planning For 8days Shimla Manali Trip

Hi, After plenty of deliberation, I have decided that Himachal Pradesh has made it to the top of my shortlist for 2 weeks holiday next April. I have been passing the time in this forum quite extensively over the past few days and started to get my trip organized. I appreciate that April is the Summer and the weather will be too Coldy and snowy, but I do not have any alternative dates as it is being booked as a surprise trip for my good vacation. Where I would like to draw on your experience folk on here are a couple of points. Firstly we would like to dual stay, I am decided on Shimla for 5 or 6 days pure relaxation, and particular near Mall Road. If anyone has any experiences of these beach bungalows or Shimla I would love to hear about it. Secondly, I would like to have some time in the more cold area and have been looking at Manali or Kasol, we are a group of friends of more than 5 travelers and we love peace and tranquility, and therefore, still enjoy a livelier excursion (not nightclubs) Would either of these destinations be better for us in your experience. If you have any recommendations on accommodation in these areas I am all ears. I have also read a lot on here that says that April is the father of the season and that a lot of the hotels will hike the charges up, definitely do not want to be staying in a ghosts town with everything closed. Hopefully, you can advise me differently. I’m surprised that its there Summer and places are getting costly, normally it is the other way round. I’m learning new stuff about North India all the time. Finally and maybe my biggest issue trains These are proving a headache and I am soon realising it is hard to travel, especially when you can't find a flight they are incredibly expensive. Naturally, dates for next year are not available yet, so I will have to keep an eye out, so I just used April this year as a guide but I can't find anything less than 10000 rupees each! Is this about average?
