I am going to Nepal for the first time, flying into Kathmandu on a great special from Air Asia. But l want to cross into India by land. Does anyone know if this can be done? Do l need proof of departure from Nepal when entering. Have not applied for visa yet. Also l have never been to Rajasthan & would like some hints on the best way to get there. Thanx in advance. You should have to contact reputed travel agency in Rajasthan and if you are in Rajasthan then would like to recommend visit major travel attractions of Jaipur, Udaipur, Bikaner and Jaisamler. Reply to this

Hi Karen, Once you land in Kathmandu, you can go to Indian Embassy yourself and drop an application without any hassle for Indian Visa.

You need passport size pictures, passport photocopy and fill up a form. Submit and get it within a day or so.

Alternatively, you can get the same on arrival in the India border(Sunauli, assuming you are travelling by train). But its better to get at Kathmandu and travel with peace of mind.

Also one advise, although the travel by road looks adventurous, I would advise you take ~$80 ticket(makemytrip.com, cleartrip.com, yatra.com) from KTM to New Delhi. You can take bus from New Delhi to Jaipur(redbus.in).

I am from Nepal staying in India so let me know if you need any other help. Cheers and have a great journey. Reply to this
