Backpacking in India

I'm planning a backpacking trip in Dec 2013 for around two weeks. Its my first backpacking trip and I'm not able to decide my location. I stay in India. My budget is 5000 INR. I'm thinking of travellin to either Munnar or Gujarat. Could you please advise?
