Does anyone know of any accommodation. I know it will be pricey but any thoughts or advice would be welcome. If anyone also has any tips on what to do for NYE that would also be good. I would not mind different price options as if it is a really good idea and I will only be in Sydney for NYE once in my lifetime I would/could/maybe push the boat out. Reply to this

Hi Paula & Mike,

I was in Sydney for NYE a couple of years ago, and splashed out around $AUS300 for the evening at the Opera Bar, not including drinks.

A belated "Happy New Year" from Sydney

Can't help with accomodation ideas sorry, I was lucky enough to be able to stay with my sister.

G'day Paula and Mike.

It is a long shot but you might see if the Sydney Harbour YHA has a vacancy over that period. They have a position to die for beside the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Don't leave it too long to make a decision as all of the rest of the best locations are often booked out at least 12 months before.

Another option is to look for accommodation around the North Sydney area. If you can pick the right place, they may well have a view of the fireworks without having to mingle with the crowds.

I am about to give away one of my secret places now!

Check out "Mary MacKillop Place". It is a convent and the shrine of Australia's only Catholic saint but the accommodation is first class.

There are no "religious" restrictions. It is just like any other accommodation - the free breakfast is pretty good, too.

It doesn't have a direct view of the bridge but the sky view is good and it is only a short walk to the foreshore where you can see everything.

John.

I'll try and dig up the info for you - I'm sure I brought my ticket online from here in NZ. Reply to this
