As much as I wish the trip could be longer (my god do I wish it was longer) money issues and commitments either side of the timeslot I have leaves me six weeks (or around 40 days and nights).

I wanna spend a fair portion of that time in thailand (both beach time and more active and historical essentials)but I would also like to see something of Laos and Vietnam (and if anyone has a tardis i can borrow then a little of malaysia as well)

If anyone could offer any suggestions on both potential routes to maximise my time without rushing and on the kind of cash you think i could do with, i would be more than grateful.

Try Cambodia. Was there last month and it awed me beyond words. As if that's not enough, the electronic visa system made me feel like I was from a third world country. Reply to this

I did Laos in one week, so if you haul ass, you can easily fit Laos into there after crossing over from from Chang Mai (northern Thailand), or Hanoi (Vietnam). I had less time than you and was able to visit Thailand, Cambodia, north Vietnam and Laos. Reply to this

I recently come back from the area. I spent most time in Thailand, about a week in Laos and a week in Cambodida visiting Ankor. It was quite laid back and relaxed, in fact on several of the days I didnt do anything. If I had planned it a little more and tightened my schedule an little bit I probably could have spent a few days in Vietnam as well. Reply to this

The Philippines is a great place and this you can check out by visiting www.hoparound.net. You will also see a list of micro tourism service providers for each of the destinations in the Philippines. Check it out. No harm. Reply to this
