I want to go over next Easter to Thailand for a vacation. We plan to spend about a week on one of the islands - Phuket, Ko Samui or Ko Chang.

We are in our late 40s and will travel with our 13 yer old son. We ehave been last year in Phuket. The problem is that every person that visited one of the places in Thailand is sure that it was the best and I would like to hear an advise from somebody that was in all of them. What is the special about each and if there is a good hotel suggestion it would be great. We are not looking for the cheap places. Reply to this

I've heard Ko Lanta is great for families...very peaceful and mellow. I haven't been there though. Something to look into... Reply to this

In secound week of April. That period is Songkarn Festival. ( 13-15 April ).
The most fun holiday is undoubtedly Songkran (สงกรานต์), the Thai New Year celebrated sometime in April (officially April 13th to 15th, but the date varies in some locations). What started off as polite ritual to wash away the sins of the prior year has evolved into the world's largest water fight, which lasts for three full days. Water pistols and Super Soakers are advised and are on sale everywhere. The best places to participate are Chiang Mai, the Khao San Road area in Bangkok and holiday resorts like Pattaya, Ko Samui and Phuket. Be advised that you will get very wet, this is not a spectator sport. In recent years, the water-throwing has been getting more and more unpleasant as people have started splashing iced water onto each other. It is advised that you wear dark clothing, as light colors become essentially see-through when you are soaked wet.

Hi there...
I was in Koh Chang in Nov and it was a relaxing time... You can stay at The White House which is on the south part of the Island... They have a pool and small private beach... You can see some pics on my blog or I can send you some more....
