I notice these guidelines.
4.Please don't drop promotional urls, signature files, nor specifics that would lead people to commercial sites. Signing your name is fine, however commercialized posts or resume signatures will be edited
9.The forums and journals are not a venue for advertisements in any way. It will be the sole discretion of TravelBlog and its moderators as to what constitutes an advertisement.
I am just looking for advice here, would it be right or wrong to give links to transport companies, tour guides, airport shuttle services, resturants, pubs ,beer festivals etc that I use or visit during my travels.
I don't want them to be seen as adverising but more as useful links for other people visitng the same area as me.I certainly won't be gaining out of any of it,but i just want to be sure I am doing the right thing.
Reply to this Hi Craig,
You can add the links in your blog entries.
We take a tougher view with forum discussions as a lot of people read them - if the links are relevant and useful we generally leave them, if promotional, we 'snip'.
Reply to this thats great, I have done a lot of research on places I am going to ,train and bus companies I am using and loads of pubs and resturants i want to visit so having links to them in the blog will be quite good.one link can mean(or save) a 1000 words
I am really new to all this so would like to do things right.
I just wish all this info was available when I first started travelling over 35 years ago, would love to have done a Blog of my travels in Europe on my bicycle, but sadly I am too old,fat and unfit to do anything like that now
Reply to this would love to have done a Blog of my travels in Europe
Nothing to stop you writing them - blog entries can be backdated. And there's no requirement to upload photos if you can't/don't want to.

Absolutely encouraged! - all those links are helpful to future readers - plus our approach is - "Your blog is your blog" - you choose what goes in there - we'll only categorize the blog as commercial or flag as spam in extreme circumstances.
What we don't want is people joining travelblog - just to write "infomercials" for their tour company or worse - adding in links to uninteresting commercial ventures, like "WOW Gold" or "Nike Shoes".
We've had a few adventures back dated from about 15 years past - early 90's - but so not much from further back... I personally love seeing the old photos contrasted with the new.
Welcome to travelblog!
Reply to this This is quite useful to me as it gives some general guidelines and rules. Just wondered if I could expand the conversation a little further to see what is acceptable and what is not with regard to the blog content.
For example I write on several blog platforms and wondered if I could post the same material here or not. In other words are you looking for unique content or do you accept blog posts and photos that may have been posted elsewhere?
Reply to this Hi Brian,
As long as the material you post on TB is your own work, and you have copyright on any photos etc that you upload to the entry, we have no problem at all if the content is not unique :-)
Reply to this That's good, I always write my own articles and the photographs are mine as well. So that's no problem. Thanks for the quick response.
Reply to this I am new to blogging but have done loads of Trip reports on various Travel websites,I just see blogging as an extension of that and hopefully with a few adjustments my material will serve both purposes.
