Check out Vietnam Volunteer Network. You can google it or they have a facebook group. It's an umbrella organisation to various orphanages, hospitals and charities throughout Vietnam.

Lifestart Foundation in Hoi An has several free volunteer opportunities available.

  • In-Country Manager to manage the work of Lifestart Foundation in Hoi An. Ideally starting from January 2012.
  • Enthusiastic and friendly volunteers interested in coming over to Vietnam to base themselves at the Lifestart Foundation Workshop. This role includes working directly with customers talking to them about our work, spending time capacity building our Vietnamese staff in customer service skills and the opportunity to work directly with the disabled workshop members.
  • Trained teachers (ideally with ESL qualifications) who can commit to a minimum of one month in Vietnam teaching English.
  • Experienced nurses, carers or other medical professionals to provide respite care for those with disabilities. A suitable match will be found between your skills and Lifestart Foundation recipients. This may include specialists such as occupational therapists, speech therapists or those with general experience in working with individuals with disabilities.
  • An experienced Physiotherapist to run the Lifestart Foundation Disability Community Centre from October 2012.
  • If you are traveling to Vietnam any assistance with transporting donated goods from Australia is always greatly appreciated. If you think you may be able to help please let us know.
