Arriving in Phuket and leaving from Krabi

We have 6 days and 7 nights, should we venture to the Northern beaches or the South?

I am travelling with some mates to Thailand over December, we arrive in Phuket on the 12th of December and want to make the most of our 6 days. I don't really need a relaxing trip, it is more important to see and do things. Try and actually experience the kiffness that is Thailand.

Please pass on any information you have regarding beaches that I should visit, onuments I should see, and things I should do that will be life altering, all in the phuket Krabi region. I would be happy to travel a day or two to see really great things, but only if they are great.... maybe I am being too picky 😊

I am happy to just go with the flow, but seeing that I don't have weeks to really backpack and ask other travellers and locals what they recommened, I would like to accelerate that process of travelling, just to get an idea.

Further as and idea is approx 2000B enough as a daily budget enough?

PLEASE HELP - you are all STARS if you do! Reply to this

Hey Meagan 😊 welcome to travelblog - looking forward to hearing of your adventures when you get back.

Ive done the same thing..arrive in Phuket, spend a few days there, hop on a speedboat to Phi Phi, spend a night there, catch the ferry to Krabi from Phi Phi or the Phi Phi/ Phang Nga/ Hong Islands tour that takes in James bond island to Krabi from Phi Phi. Spend the rest (as much) of your time in Krabi, its beautiful. Expect Ferry prices to vary depending on if you go straight to Krabi or decide to incorporate a tour around the islands after breaking your trip with a night on Phi Phi.

In Phuket...go on, have a look at the craziness of Bangla road with its bright lights and ladyboys and fireworks and lanterns. Shop for handbags, clothes, stuff....theres no end of stuff for sale on bangla roads, whatever sort of traveller you are you should find something to buy and barter for on Bangla road.

From Patong (if you are staying there) catch a taxi or tuktuk out to Kata beach (350 - 400bht) before you hit Karon beach on the left you will see a mum and baby elephant beside what looks like a petrol station/workshop - you can ride the elephant up into the jungle and look out over karon and kata bays. Its nice. Shes a good elephant.

If you are into Cabarets and spectacles..check out fantasea, ive heard its awesome but not my thing.

In Phi Phi - SNORKEL or scuba dive..its a beautiful world down there.

In Krabi - Save the nature tour for Krabi, its absolutely beautiful. Do the tour which takes in the hotsprings and natures hot tubs and emerald lakes, catch a long tail round to Ao Nang and Railay beaches. Just marvel at the stunning scenery. Grab a long tail to where they filmed the beach, all longtail operaters know where it is or check if there is a ferry. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

I just converted your budget to AUD so i could work out if its enough...if you catch buses and ferries on most of your days - you can get budget accom for about $13 - $20 so thats around a third of your daily budget, meals shouldnt cost you much more than about $10 maximum a day as long as you dont eat at 'fancy' restaurants..so you still have just over half your daily budget. The thing that will kill you with this budget is tours..the hot springs tour from Krabi is around $38 AUD so that is your days budget and a little more used up. I havent added in what you may save on bargaining down prices those are advertised prices - you will be able to save a little more. I think from memory the Phi Phi to Krabi ferry is around 600bht. The days you spend doing nothing but hanging at the beach are the days you save a bit of money for the days where you will be going over budget. I work out my budget for the entire trip..knowing some days I will be over budget...but other days i will have a surplus so it evens it out. Always have a few hundred bucks at home with family just in case you go over 😉
