Any advice please....
Hi, we are spending November travelling round Thailand and have a month spare before we need to be back in London for Christmas and we aren't sure how best to spend the month. We are thinking that Asia (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Phillipines etc) would be easiest and cheapest. Is there any advice from experienced travellers on what's best to do? We also like the sound of the Middle East but not sure if it is something we could do (cost, volatility etc)??
Any thoughts and help would be great. Thank you

If you are already in Thailand then somewhere like Thailand, Laos and/or Cambodia would be a cheap addition. In a month you could do something like a week in Cambodia seeing the temples at Angkor and Phnom Penh and then 2-3 weeks in Vietnam. If you want to do it quickly you could do a loop through Laos and back into Thailand, or if you want a more leisurely trip you could fly to Bangkok from Hanoi. So you would go into Cambodia from Bangkok, a couple of days in Siem Reap seeing Angkor (there are hundreds of temples so you need at least 2 days there. The floating villages and the land mine museum are interesting too). Then a couple of days in Phnom Penh and onto Ho Chi Minh City (it's a 5 hour bus ride). 2-3 weeks travelling up through Vietnam via Mui Ne, Nha Trang, Hue, Hoi An and to Hanoi. Do at least an overnight in Halong Bay and perhaps a short trip to Sapa. Then you can fly from Hanoi.
Alternatively you could travel from Hanoi to Vientiene (although this is a monster of a bus journey) and do a quick loop through Vang Vien to Luang Prabang and back into Thailand.
You could, of course also do it in reverse.
There are plenty of people doing the same trip on here so browse the blogs for more information and pictures to inspire you!
Hope this helps
