Am wondering where is the best place to be weather-wise from May to Sept. I planned to go to India from May but im told thats monsoon time and quite unbearable. So prob will have to change plans somewhat...Is sth east Asia ok during that time?

Hi

I am just coming to the end of a 7 Month trip throughout Asia. I started in May 2006 and will be done in november. i can honestly say that i didnt come across any 'bad' weather whilst travelling around. i think i have seen rain perhaps 4 or 5 times and that occurred in china and japan. i visited Thailand - May
Malaysia - May/June
Laos - June/July
Cambodia - July
Vietnam - August
China - September
Japan - October

cant be sure that the weather will be repeated when you go, but i hope the info i provided can be of some help. however, it really depends on what you consider 'best' weather. at times i was so hot in thailand for example that in just 15 mins i had to find shade, temperatures were reaching something like 35'. heres a link to my travel blog. have a look if you like, maybe it;ll give you some ideas.

Thanks Chris, thats put my mind at ease somewhat.
By 'best' i mean not too hot, bearable, non monsoony weather... (should have clarified that really) I was a bit worried about monsoon season for doing treks and kyaking and what not.

All thats left to know now is India....

Any takers on weather in India??? I hear theres different times throughout the yr that its better to be down sth or up nth??

Hi,
India being such a vast country has varied seasons. Nov-Feb is winter season and best season to do South India. June-Sept is rainy season and you should avoid south India unless you want to see the rainy season in south india. March-May is summer season and best season for visiting wild life sanctuary if you wish to see tiger. if you wish to do the north India then Sept - Dec is the best season.
