Hi.. i'm hoping to hearing back some suggestion... i'm traveling to Singapore & Malaysia soon.. i'm visiting to Malay for 1 week. I want to visit KL, Penang & Sabah. Is that too much to do for 1 week? they're all in different direction.... i don't want to waste time on the bus too much.. i'm thinking to skip Sabah & just visit KL & Penang..

Penang: DHARMIKARAMA Burmese Temple-- read alot of great thing about it.. what is the best way to get there?
Snake temple-- as well (i'm not sure my friend is up for this one though)
Butterfly farm
others?

KL: Twin Towers & Batu Caves Others?

any other places must see & avoid? any recommendation for hotels for Penang & KL? where is the best way to exchange $...thanks. Reply to this

Hey

You need to fly to Sabah as it's on a different island. You can fly from KL with Air Asia. It's an amazing place - the orangutan sanctuary, jungle lodges, climbing Mount Kinabalu, diving in Semporna....although it is a rush to see it all in one week - without including Penang and KL!!

You can also fly between KL and Penang with them, which would save time too.

In KL you get a good view from the twin towers and from the KL tower. You have to pay to go up the KL tower whereas you need to queue early in the morning to get one of the restricted numbers of free tickets to the twin towers. At the foot of the KL tower there is a nature reserve in the city with two species of monkeys which is really cool. They do a free guided walk around it which is well worth doing.

The bird garden is good too. Plus walk around Chinatown and Little India and the various areas of the city and compare the different cultures.

Hope this helps

i felt so funny reading this, i don't know what is so special about the burmese temple haha, probably it is not so special to me. and the snake temple, that is age ago touristic place i suppose? Is there anything else left there? may i know where you get those info form? XD

Sabah and KL+penang are different type of places, go for KL + penang if you are looking for varieties of cultures, go for sabah if you are looking for nature spots. I will vote for sabah ;P Reply to this

@ Kate: thanks for your response & tips.

@sayhau: thanks for ur response as well. I'm reading from other travel sites based on the people who had been there rating. anyways... i'm looking for alittle bit of cultures & nature spots unfortunately due to limited time i won't be able to make it to all 3 places. More than likely i'm going to end up skipping Sabah. I just might take sightsee KL & Penang.

by the way Where is the best place to exchange currency? Reply to this

ahh okay, i remember i read about the snake temple 14 years ago when i was in primary school, and since then, i heard there is nothing much left there, may be you can find out about that haha. There are kek lok shi temple, bendera hill, batu ferringi beach and lot of nice food at penang.... KL.. just another big city, ShXX now i feel like i never really explore KL well enough LOL.

Not sure about the best rate for currency exchange, i suppose they are more or less the same, I know it is a lil cheaper at south region but you probably wouldn't go there.

And as for singapore, the best exchange rate is somewhere at people plaza, it is near to MRT station... uhh i forgot which station was that! it was somewhere around the china town. Which country do you come from by the way? Reply to this

Hey there. There is a lot of places to be visited in KL and Penang my dear. I'm basically from Singapore and went to Malaysia on a honeymoon trip last march. Actual plan was to put up in KL for 3 days and Penang for 4 days. Guess what... I changed my plan the moment i stepped at KL! I stayed at KL and Penang for a week each! My wife is still complaining that she is not satisfied visiting all of these places. Hence, we are planning to visit Malaysia again on this coming November/December. In KL i stayed in an apartment(recommended by my friend). It's almost like staying in a house of your own. The owner is a lady! Very nice and sweet! The apartment is fully furnished and comfortable! The price is also very reasonable. You can check on the website: www.malaysiatravelstay.com

In Penang I stayed in this hotel called B-suite. You can google about this hotel. I mean it's not extremely luxurious but comfortable enough for us to stay! The price is affordable! About transport... You can get a cab or bus everywhere. Public transport is available 24 hours so no worries! Hope you enjoy your stay!

Dear NV1,
By the way, if you are planning to visit Sabah, KL and Penang in 1 week time... it's impossible! They are not towns! They are 3 different states! From KL to Penang it will take maximum 3-4 hours on road and from Penang to Sabah you will be in the need of taking a flight(45 minutes-1 hour+).

If you really can't extend your trip then perhaps you should really plan your visit! I'll suggest for you to choose either 2 instead of all 3 states! Personally, i'll vote for KL and Sabah.

If you want to experience a '24hours alive city' you definitely have to visit KL for extreme entertainment and after that you can fly to Sabah to experience greens and calming environment. Hit 2 different feeling and experiences in 1 visit! maybe you can put up at KL for 3 days and Sabah for another 4 days!
