Do I need to book a good resort late November.

Hi.
Will be staying in Phuket (Patong) somewhere like the Holiday Inn Resort or similar 4 star resort for about 8 nights, and Phi Phi for about 3 nights. Arrive in Phuket on November 19 and leave Fri 3rd Dec.
Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to book my resort. I was told good resorts may be hard to get that time of the year. I will have my 6 and 8 year old girls and wife with me. It would be nice not to have to book, as we are travelling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai over about 12 days, to get a bit of culture (no resorts), and don't want to be locked into set dates for our resort stay in the south at the end of this trip. On the other hand I dont want to be stressed out trying to find a suitable resort that isn't booked out.
Please help

Eight days and no one has answered. If it were one or two adults I would chance it. What is the worse that would happen? Maybe sleep in a bus terminal or airport? But with kids you have to be more certain.

Book at least the first few nights just to have a place to immediately go to and an address for the taxi driver head for.

While you are in Bangkok or Phuket you might be able to have a local travel agency book a place for you at a convenient date. Or, doing a little research and having a few suggested hotels that appeal to you - you can call them direct and ask them if they have a room available and book it then. Or use the internet at the last minute to check on vacancies.

I would book a final night in Bangkok so you do not have to rely on a last minute flight arriving in time for you to meet your flight home. If you plan on flying in at the last minute and that flight cancels out or is late you lose your ride home! A final night in Bangkok will allow you to do some last minute shopping, maybe take in a dinner cruise but best of all you would only be a quick taxi ride back to the airport to make your flight. I prefer hotel rooms in Bangkok not far from the Skytrain route. If you do intend to fly into Bangkok at the last minute make sure you allow enough time between arrival and departure to make your connecting flight in time.

If you are looking for an international brand, most of them do garantee you that their web site have the lowest rates available. So in terms of hotels, today is very similar to airlines....the earlier you book and pay, the cheaper it will be.

November is seen as the high season here..so while resorts may not be full...the cheapest rates will be gone.

But than again, the country is currently speaking of staging elections on the 14th november....what will happen around those dates if elections do happen....this is impossible to say as of today.

Due to the current situation in Thailand, I would simply wait. If you book 3 months ahead of December, meaning mid-august, you will still find good deals.

This rule only apply if you are looking at anything 4 stars or equal, if you go budget, it does not work the same way as the tend to manage less actively their room rates.

now if you are with young kids, may I suggest the Allamanda in the Laguna complex. Each room has a kitchenette, and the place is way nicer for young children, with access to swimming pools of 5 hotels, same things for restaurants, spas, etc...

Hope this help,
