@Chris and Nikki. When u swing by Philippines, try the civet pooh coffee called Alamid at Bo's Coffee....a chain rivalling Starbucks and Seattle's Best here in Manila.

@Donna and Neil. I have tried by now the coffee in Vietnam and Cambodia, and their baguettes too. Yes, soooo good. But I am still drooling over the Laos/Luang Prabang (i shd really go there) banana cake to go well with their coffee, as u wrote about. In time, in time. Reply to this

There are a lot of good coffee's in the world and I have found it to be a very personal thing.
Even after living in Seattle for 7 years Starbucks is still not one of our favorites. It has a real after bite.

Have any of you tried Seattle's Best? Give it a go if you can find it near you. In our opinion much better.

But------------- I think your question was about a coffee shop rather than coffee.

There is a darling coffee shop on Cape Cod in Cataumet called The Daily Brew. It is cozy, welcoming and has free wifi.
They have a nice patio area for the warmer months.

Travel can be enhanced by trying the local coffee and not trying to duplicate what you have back home.

Coffee in Vietnam is bitter and more stronger then in Europe. I think coffee in Vietnam is the best. To make it, you have to take the filter and hot water and wait for long time. Don't use coffee maker machines.

The best coffee that my husband and I have had is in a small alpine town called bright which is in country victoria, Australia. The name of the cafe is The Spud Cafe, they also sell the best stuffed potataoes I have ever tasted. Reply to this

Chris and Nikki.........guess what. Bo's Coffee is not retailing the Alamid or civet pooh coffee anymore. 😞 Filipinos find it pricey, and therefore the item is presumably slow-moving. If you swing by Manila, Phillippine Travel Cafe still offers it. The coffee shop is on the 2nd floor of Greenbelt 5, Makati. Sells for Pesos 240, about US$5.50. Or you may try other coffee in the same shop : Mt. Matutum coffee (mild), Cordillera (strong), or Barako (very strong. recommended) all of which are half the price of the Coffee Alamid.

I'm a tea drinker, so can't comment on the coffee (can't stand the stuff actually), but Glenary's in Darjeeling is probably the best café I've been to on our travels... amazing place in an amazing town, backdropped with the Himalayas. The cakes were fantastic too! 😊 Reply to this

Thanks for letting us know about the coffee Lilliram, it's a shame but I suppose if it's expensive it may be more of a novelty drink.

What time of year would you recommend to visit for the best weather? Reply to this

@Chris and Nikki. What time of the year? About NOW. It's still relatively cool. And the Christmas crowd is gone. Reply to this

Off topic I know, but...

Wow... Officially, or just a celebration with the both of you? Believe me, you'll blink and the years will just fly by, especially if kids are on the agenda, they just suck time away. My second born is celebrating his 1st birthday on Thursday and I'm struggling to remember where my newborn's disappeared to!

Faye and I plan to renew every 10 years with family and friends etc... and even that is approaching fast! 😉 Reply to this

To be honest a bit of both, we'll be doing it officially every time but it will probably be just the two of us.......& all the people on our trip at that time lol.

I have a few ideas for future "weddings" already......Disneyland (but only once we have kids)........an underwater ceremony (as we both love to dive, haven't decided on a location for this one yet though)........& for when we can't make it away to foreign shores at the stadium of the football team I support in London (although I can't see Nikki going for this one lol).

We were going to get married at a ranch in Canada before we decided on getting married in Sweden as we both like horse riding but it was waaaaay too expensive, so maybe an unofficial renewal there one day.

Sorry to go off topic everyone 😊 Reply to this

Don't know best in the world; in Hohhot in Inner Mongolia, China, "Ashes of Time" near the college district is awesome. It's across the road from some condos. It has good coffee, great fruit teas (the kind that come in a pot over a candle), and best of all, a quirky atmosphere.

Lots of art and kitschy items, a box of games like chess and checkers, old printings of English- and Chinese-language books an all kinds of subjects. Great for studying and hanging out.

Again, the coffee is good, too. 😉 Reply to this

I have just been introduced to possibly the best coffee if not the world, then at least London! It's a small chain of New Zealand coffee shops called Sacred. The coffee is amazing, and I am constantly dreaming of my next delight as soon as I have finished one.

If you live in London, or are visiting London, then I would definitely recommend you look them up. There are only a few around but I do know there is one in the Westfield Shopping Centre at Sheppherd's Bush and Covent Garden. Reply to this

Best coffee I for me was in Salento, right in the heart of the coffee zone, Colombia. Also had a delicious coffee in San Pedro, Guatemala. Both memorable for their deliciousness and the amazing locations and authenticity. Obviously not that accessible on a regular basis! Luckily I live in the hub of a particularly good coffee area in Auckland. A particular favorite is Ben on Fort St and it's little brother, Little B, on Cross St. Great coffee and people passionate about making sure you get the best coffee every time. Reply to this

We went to Haikou in Hainan Island on the 1st January this year, thence to Qionghai for 3 days. We wanted to go to zhaoqing in Guangdong by train. We went to the train station b ut there was a long queue there and later we learned that a lot of students lined up at the station for more than 24 hours but just could not the tickets. We came to know by concidence that there is a train ticket counter beside Minghang hotel at Mingzhu square.
We took the train from Haikou to Zhaoqing, then by bus to Foushan city. The next day we took another bus to go to zhongshan city. There we stayed for 2 days after which we went to Zhuhai. In all these cities we went round in public buses which are very well connected and organised.
From Zhuhai we just walked into Macau. The whole trip took us 13 days and we enjoyed the trip and the food as well. Reply to this

Well, the answer the question depends on what you want. If you want a unique place to taste a good coffee, here in Paris there is a coffee shop in the Louvre Museum. During warmer months, you can sit outside and appreciate from your chair the view of the Pyramide, the External part of the museum, the Arc du Trioumph du Carroussel du Louvre and a bit of the Tulleiries garden.

In Marrakesh, Maroc, there are a lot of excellent tea shops from where you can envoy the expetacular place Djam El Fna. The coffee there is not very good, but the teas are excellent!

But if you like the taste of coffee, than you should go for Brazil. There coffee is like wine for the frenchs: coffee is an art! There are hundreds thousants types of coffee, one better then the other. In big citys like São Paulo, there are some coffee shops that have their own exclusive premium coffee production. I know it is a matter of taste, but after I tried coffee there its been hard to return to the regular coffees in Europe (despite the fact that there are really good coffees in Italy too).

And about Starbucks, I agree with Chris and Nikki: it is just dirty water for with an expensive price! Reply to this

White coffee from Penang Malaysia is delicious too. They lightly roast the beans then steam them for a more subtle and distinct flavor.
