When I visited Vienna, Austria , I tried the famous sacher torte in Sacher Hotel. I wasn't bowled over by the sacher torte, but i definitely enjoyed the viennese coffee there.

@Scott and Kristy: Yes, i do love Vietnamese coffee too. My friend gave me a pack of coffee beans one time, and I never stopped asking her every time she makes a trip to Hanoi. Reply to this

The best coffee I ever had was in Pushcar, India. It was an interesting mix of Coffee, ginger and cinnamon. The ginger gave it an amazing kick. It's a combination I'm still trying to reproduce but haven't had any luck. Reply to this

You can get plenty of poop coffee in England but I've never had coffee from civit cat poop! That's from Indonesia right? or do they use some other animals lower intestine there? Either way, I'm heading there soon and I'll try and track it down! Yes, Kristy, Vietnamese coffee is the best I've had. Seriously strong, in a small glass cup, with a shot of condensed milk at the bottom (not from the bottom!). Heaven!!

i forget what it is called in Indonesia.....coffee luwak, or something? We also have it here in Manila, Philippines called alamid coffee. Not as pricey. Though if you ask me, I don't really dig it. Reply to this

Yes, Liliram it's Kopi Luwak that they have in Indonesia...we never had the guts to try it though, as we've heard it an...ahem...acquired taste!

The best coffee we have had in our travels has been in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos...these countries also happened to have the best baguettes and Laos definitely had the best cakes to go with the coffee! They all serve their coffee the same way, super-strong so you could stand your spoon in it with some sweet condensed milk at the bottom...yummy whether it's hot or cold and definitely gives you that caffeine kick start in the morning! Especially in Luang Prabang, which is a great little town - the cakes were out of this world!! A particular favourite was the banana cake...drooling now! Reply to this

The only worthwhile coffee shops in the world are in Holland, in any town except Amsterdam.

If you are only interested in coffee then try Addis Abeba.

I'm going to continue my trend of commenting on ridiculosly old threads by adding my bit to this thread.

I have tried Kopi Luwak (wildcat poop coffee) & it is amazing! I love coffee especially strong coffee, I generally like milk in my coffee but when I had Kopi Luwak I was told to truly taste it you shouldn't add any milk or sugar so I took the waiters advice & loved it.

As for Starbucks I can't stand it, it's WAY too weak with hardly any flavour. Reply to this
