To go to Shanghai or not? Advice sought.
Hi ALL,
Myself and some friends are planning to go to China in June. I've been looking up this site and have found some really good information on the blogs and in the travel forum so thought I might ask for your advice.
We'll have 18 full days in HK/China and we are trying to organise our itinerary (decided to do self tour as opposed to organised tour after reading some of the other queries and helpful suggestions)
We definitely want to go to Hong Kong, Beijing, Yangshuo and Xian. Two other places we were hoping to go to was Chengdu and Shanghai, however realistically I don't think we will have time to go to them both.
So was just wondering will we miss out on much by not going to Shanghai (as I really want to see the pandas!). Is it a city that I should definitely visit? Also the world expo is being held in Shanghai while we will be in China - is this worth seeing, don't know much about it!
Thanks 😉
Reply to this It really depends on your interest but personally I wouldnt miss it it is really and truely suposed to be the future of the moder world the land use and planning and development there is really amazing, but if your not into that sort of thing then I would consider the other city, which I really dont know much about at all. Also the if your into what i already told you about Shanghai then the world fair would definately be interesting to you. Hope this helps.
Reply to this Yes! You should definitely come to Shanghai. I think that it would be a great addition to the culturally rich cities that you will be going to. It has a different flavor than the other cities and because of the Expo, this city has really been made more beautiful. Just yesterday I drive by the bund and I never thought that they could have made it look any better than they did. I highly recommend it.
Also, I have also come out with a book of soundwalks which gives you a different way to experience the city. Please check it out. http://www.growingupwithshanghai.com
Thanks!
