Just looking for some friendly advice

My bestfriend and I are looking to travel to Asia next summer for a month or so. We were thinking Japan, then Hong Kong, then maybe the Philippines and ending in India. I was just looking seeing if anyone had any suggestions on destinations, places to stay those sort of things. Any input would be greatly appreciately! Thank you - safe travels! Reply to this

So you have about a month? - and you want to cram in quite a lot 😊 - if you're happiest city hopping then it might be enough time, but I'd find it not enough. You could easily spend a month in one country (the phillipines) - or six months in India.... - do you have specific places that you want to see and things you want to do?

If you can't get more time, or don't have enough budget then you have a couple of options....

If budget is the problem - you could get more time in India or the Phillipines - by skipping Japan - Japan needs a budget of about $100 a day - where $20 is good for most places in South-East Asia.

If time is the main problem - you could either scale down your plans - less countries, or plan a whirlwind high budget tour with pre-booked flights. Reply to this

Thank you man! Yah we are just trying to work through everything. This is literally in the very beginning stages. Japan is mostly on the agenda just to see - might even be content with a night or two there. The phillipines would probably be the core part of the adventure. As for India - I definetly could see spending a lot more time there - its kind of the pipe dream fantasy to atleast see it :-) I havent ruled out Thailand yet. I'll just have to take a lot into consideration before I finalize plans. Reply to this

Don't miss Japan - its a country of contrasts. One minute you are in a temple where you get a sense of peace and tranquility and the next you are downtown with loads of people and neon lights.

If you go for a few days (you need around 5 to really see some of the sights) probably best to fly into Osaka as you can get to some great sites very easily from there - Nara/Kyoto/Hiroshima. Also there is a rail pass that you can buy from outside of Japan that works out great value (or at least great value for Japan)!!.

Have fun! Reply to this

I guess depending on where you go in India but I would recommend going to Goa to end your trip. I would go further south than Anjuna and Panaji as thats where a lot of the european package tourists come. Its a perfect way to relax and unwind from the constant pace of travelling. You can check out www.airdeccan.net They are a budget airline with flights from Mumbai to Goa (but no Delhi to Goa). The only thing is you have to book on the web as most agents won't do it for you. They are ligit (I've flown with them myself!) but a lot of ppl have not heard of them (which was worrying when I headed to the airport to board this mysterious flight). Reply to this
