I've just discovered these Islands today, and I've decided that I must go. I'm planning a SE Asia trip for November, and India isn't on my agenda, so I'd really like to know a good, inexpensive way to get to the Andaman Is from Myanmar or Thailand. EVerything I've seen online so far is just from India.
Any tips would be super awesome and greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Candice
Reply to this From Thailand you can go to many islands in the Andaman Sea and it's often not expensive to hire a boat. I don't know much a bout Myanmar but from the tourist safety and facility aspect, I think you'd be better off going from Thailand. Here is the official Tourism website which offers good info for destinating in the Andaman.

Personally, I'll recommend Krabi, about 600 km from Bangkok. There are a lot of boat tours, diving and snorkelling trips from there to various islands . But if you prefer less touristic areas, you can go to Trang or Satun which are south of Krabi. Good luck.
Reply to this Just to make you check this out, there is a section about destinations in Andaman Sea that can be accessed from Thailand

Reply to this Hi
Take a flight from Bangkok to Kolkata or Chennai. Many major airlines operate on this route. From Kolkata or Chennai, you have to change flights thru a domestic carrier and reach Port Blair, the capital of the Andamans. You can use www.indianairlines.nic.in or www.airdeccan.net to book these flights
