Pre-booking tours vs buying tours while in Thailand

Hi all,

My girlfriend and I are looking to do a 3-night, 4-dayv'Rainforest Retreat' tour in Khao Sok National Park and Chieow Laan Lake with the company Limestone Lake Tours.

They have quoted us a price for this tour of £160 ($250 / €180). Seel link:

While this seems a reasonable price to pay for what should be an exciting adventure, some people I have spoken to in person and on the web say that tours are much cheaper when bought out there - and readily available!

I am concerned though that, given we are going in the peak season (January 1 - 17), there will be no tours available. In this context, it seems that it may be worth having the peace of mind that we have booked a tour already.

Has anyone used this company to do a tour? Does anyone have any advice / suggestions?

Hi, Im not sure if this will help much as i didnt use the same company as you but last year me and my boyfriend were there between november and january and in both Chiang Mai and Khao Sok tours were easy to get hold of..wherever you stay may also do their own which luckily our accom manager made this really easy for us, we booked a tour when we got there and were on it the next day and also i know of others who did the same thing 😊 Reply to this

Hello Lauren 😊

Yes, I think it would certainly be less expensive, if you dont book it on the internet. Just stay in a guesthouse nearby, and then go to the park and ask what is available. Maybe you can even just get a map and get around the park yourself.

If you are looking for someplace nice to stay, I recommend Arts River Lodge. If you looking for someplace very inexpensive, but certainly good enough, I recommend Garden Huts.
