What to do in 6-days?

I'll be in Thailand for 6 full days this November, what would be the best thing to do and places to visit. Offhand, Im thinking of exloring Bangkok and Ayutthaya but i would also want to cover other area without sacrificing having quality leisure time while on vacation 😊

thanks,

Hmm, 6 days. You could also squeeze in Kanchanaburi which is between Bangkok and Ayutthaya - its where the River Kwai is, and has some lovely little raft houses along the river to stay in, a lot of them you get your own hammock too on the verandah! You can visit the famous Bridge on the River Kwai and the war memorial and museum. You can also take a trip out to the Tiger temple, where you can stroke tigers - although there is a bit of controversy about this place and whether or not it is really run by monks or the tigers are drugged.... I don know for sure, other people Im sure will have something to say on this
I probably wouldn recommend anywhere else in such a short time, like you say it would be compromising your leisure time otherwise. Hope you have a great time! You must try the mango and sticky rice you get off the street stalls, yummy!

I agree with Debtravel go to Kanchanaburi 2 hours by bus from Bangkok. I also recommend going to Chaing Mai, it is a long trip by bus but many airlines fly there in one hour, return from Bangkok about $90.us. Some flights go out of Don Muang, the old airport and some leave from the new airport. Do not go in any of the Duty Free shops at the airport especially King Power, they have been falsely accusing foreigners of shoplifting, you are then taken to a Police Station near the airport where you will be extorted for all of your money. Have a look at the Bangkok Post an English language paper online and you can get updates about the new airport and the problems that foreigners/felangs are having there. Unlicensed guides and taxis have become a big problem. I have just returned from Thailand. Sawatdee Krab, enjoy the land of smiles. Reply to this

Thanks Debbie and Alex. Kanchanari is definitely on my list now along with Ayutthaya and Bangkok. Just wondering if 1 day each is enough to explore Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi or is it better to spend the night in each of the area? Reply to this

Hi! Im fixing my itinerary now. What's the best way to travel from Bangkok to Ayutthaya and Bangkok to Kanchanaburi? Is there a train or a bus that can take to both places? How much would the fare be and how long is the travel time?

Also, could you recommend a good hotel/hostel in Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi?

thanks in advance 😊

Hi Joyce. You can take a bus from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, and then another bus from there to Ayutthaya. I was there 2 years ago and can't remember how much it cost, but it's not much. I think the bus to Kanchanaburi leaves from the southern bus station in Bangkok. I think to Kanchanaburi it's only a couple of hours as I remember but others may know better. And to Ayutthaya from Kanchanaburi - maybe 3-4 hours? Reply to this

Hi Joyce, i did the same thing last year- Bangkok/Kanchanaburi/Ayutthaya, we got a small minibus from Bangkok but it is equally as easy to get the public bs, doesnt cost much at all i cant remember what exactly but very cheap a few hundred baht maybe. we stayed in the Jolly Frog in Kanchanaburi which was great the rooms were good (go for a ground floor one) and the gardens there were lovely-right on the river with lots of trees and hammocks 😊 also if you go there get a massage frm just outside the lady is ancient but very good!

Might be quicker and easier to get the train to Ayutthaya, we couldnt see many places to stay there but we found the Ayutthaya Guest House which was simple but fine, they also hired out bikes which was a great way to explore the town and ruins which is what we did thats what im doing on my pic on here 😊

In bangkok you wont find it hard to find a place to stay. a few of them on khaosan road have rooftop pools that are grat for when you getting used to the heat out there

Have a great time 😊 im there again at the end of december i cant wait! Reply to this

Glad that you enjoyed your trip. Im leaving for Thailand next week for 6 months to study Thai. The Canadian Consulate here in Toronto gave me a one year visa. I plan to learn Thai, then take a TESOL course and then teach English in Thailand or Cambodia and retire there. Im happt to hear that you enjoyed Kanchanaburi, I could retire there. I look at the postcards that I bought there, everyday. Reply to this
