KL 10TH NOV - 14TH NOV where to stay and what to do............
As above, where is the best place to stay which is not too expensive, can any one reccomend any places.
Also what types of things are there to do?
Mucho thanks
Reply to this If u r plannin for only 4 days try cititel express. Costs around 80 riggets. There are lots of places tht u can see in KL.. Try getting a map from KL Central.
Reply to this Hellow Brodieo, you can always try Wheeler Guest House, the place is near China Town, LRT station, Money Exchange, Banks, Restaurants and Food Stall, Supermarket, Transportation etc. The dorm rate if I'm not mistaken is around MYR 15, single aircond room around MYR 40 . They also have roof top bar. Visit Wheeler Guest House blog at
http://wheelersguesthouse.blogspot.com/
btw there's lot of things to do here:-
i. Go to KLCC
ii. Go to KL tower
iii. Go town jungle (jungle in the middle of KL town)
iv. Go to Low Yat plaza, lot of IT gadget here (if u are one of those IT freaks )
v. Lot of nite spot.
vi. Raggae bar infront of Wheelers Guest House.
vii. Go to Bukit Bintang, the night life is so happening
viii. Round KL by double dacker bus
can always ask Wheelers Guest House staff or the owner Szin, to suggest ,they are very helpfull.
Reply to this Many thanks for the Wheelersguest house I will take a look at that.
Thanks again
Reply to this There are a dozen cheap guest houses, most of them located in China Town. I suggest you just take a bus / subway there and just look around for a few. Dorms should be 15/20, double rooms (without airco) I think you can get for less than 40.
Wheeler's is one of the cheapest indeed. A small place covered with flowers and run (at the time I was there) by a beautiful lady who probably wasn't born a female.
Reply to this Ha ha ha ha that last part cracked me up. I will watch out for that.
Many thanks

Reply to this I heard a lot about Wheelers. If I book after landing in KL by CASH do they accept or online only booking? They also have dorm right? So If I am alone person I would pay price for 1 person or 7 person? It's a bit confusing.
And 1 more question is it required to book online for most hostels or I can book in person when I reach therE?
My flight reached KL by 3:00 pm Malaysia time at LCC terminal.
Any suggestion and recommendations on any hotels or any frindly hosts? 😊
Reply to this no need to make reservation, I think. Else, there are many similar ones around wheeler.
Reply to this Thanks Roojoo for quick reply...Any recomanded by you? I never been there so dont no which 1 is preferred...Any suggesions pls?
Reply to this Just take a bus / subway to chinatown and walk around for a while looking for cheap places. It's like a square. Wheelers is in the east, a street running frmo north to south. The western street (running n-s) has 2 bigger ones of the same price. Don't know names.
Reply to this Thanks again Roojoo.. :-) 1 of my friend from Brunei told me that on 13th Feb 2010 it's chinese new year celebration in Malaysia. Will this make it difficult to me to get hostel in China town on arrival? I Have ticket from LCC terminal to KL sentral. Just curious if KL Sentral is a big train + bus staion?
Reply to this Chinese new year might be a problem. There will always be one place to sleep, but if you want to be sure better make a reservation. You sound like you haven't traveled a lot in such places, so booking a hostel for the first night might give a safer feeling.
As for the transport withing KL, get a subway map online... Subway gets you to a 5/10 minutes walking distance of chinatown. Check a guide book (if you have any) to see if there are buses. Don't worry too much. Malaysia is a really easy place to travel, you can ask directions to anyone.
Reply to this Thats cool. I been to few countries but I used to stay either at friends hosue or at cousins house. Although in India I stay at hostel kind of place in a apartment...But still 😉 We are not that adventurous like Europeans who easily find accomodation when travelling. :D And I dont have any plan to stay at expensive hotel in KL hehe that why.
Reply to this Brodieo, where did you end up staying? I am visiting KL in a few weeks and i have no idea what to do or where to stay. Any suggestion?
Reply to this We stayed in the Monkey Inn when we were there. It's in China Town. It's cheap. The rooms are quite small but it's very clean and well kept and you get free breakfast and internet.
Reply to this @ tinman4romoz > I stayed at "Red palm" hostel. Very cozy place and nice. It costed me I think around 35 RM per day. They also provides free unlimited breakfast which includes fruits too and ofcourse milk, corn flakes, bread etc. Red Palm always gets full so book in advance from hostelworld. Or you can also check "Ann Jung" hostel just opposite of Red Palm @ Tangkant Tong Shin .
Ann Jung costs around 40 RM I guess. Cant remember. Also there are several other hostels in that area. 2 advantages of being Bintang is many places are nearby and Bintang walk by evening is marvallous. Lot of food stalls opposite of that hostel lane too. Pudu station is not so far too. Over all good area to make base. 😊 China Town is crowded I been their. Noisy place.
Reply to this @ tinman4romoz > When you get down at Bukit Bintang mono rail station, just walk down stair and stand at MAYBANK ATM and starts walking towards slop. Go straight very straight till the end you'll see open space . Take right turn go straight and take again right on 2nd lane. A bit confusing lane for 1st time visitor.
Start walking in that lane and their is 1 Indian restaurant at right hand side. Just next to that it's Red Palm. And opposite its "Ann Jung". Taxi driver may will charge more like 6~10 RM just for 3~5 mins walk so be ware!!
Reply to this Thx sco1984 and K&K for the tips. I am pretty excited about this trip. My main goal for Malay is to Batu cave. Is there a bus or a tour to go there? I visited Kuching, Malay for a month in 2000. It was quiet nice but a bit boring. I think KL is totally different from small town. Oh, where did you do your money exchange?
Reply to this @ tinman4romoz > If you stay at Bukit Bintang, just walk a bit towards China Town near Pudu station and from their you can get bus to Batu caves. At hostel respective owner/care taker of hosue tells you how to get their. Dont worry about that.
Money exchange > I used my international ATM card to withdraw money at LCCT terminal. Also many ATM's at "KL Sentral at 1st floor". You can buy phone card + train card for 20 + 15 RM subsequently.
Also dont miss Kuala Lumpur performance arts show near KL twin tower. That show helds at MATiC. i.e. Malaysia torism center. Loads of free brochures their for us + Free internet PC's too I think. It's next mono rail station after Bukit Bintang I think.
Regards,
AmeY.
