Advice on route through Malaysia from Singapore heading north to Thailand and avoiding Kuala Lumpur
Hi
In December this year we are planning on travelling from Singapore through Malaysia to Thailand and beyond.
We intend to have a flight into Kuala Lumpur on the way back from Thailand and therefore want to try and avoid on our route out.
Looking for suggestions on what to see?/ way to travel?/ suggested routes.
Unfortunately we only have about a week for this leg of the journey so mainly looking for the highlights!
Thanks a lot

Reply to this Hi There;
Iam not sure if avoiding KL from Singapore will make your journey shorter !! Why dont you fly with Airasia to South of Thailand ?! If you are travelling by bus; Singapore - KL = 4 -5 Hours. KL - Hatyyai = 8 Hours. Hatyyai - Phuket = I think 6 hours. Dont forget that you have to stop, change busses and all.
If you are up to it, then try to book your tickets in advance if it's possible, so that you will make sure you are not going to stay over night any place before you reach phuket or any other island in the south.
Well for 1 week, go to Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Mok, Koh Lanta, and the other islands there. South of Thailand is so amazing. Enjoy your trip 😊
Reply to this Hiya guys, myself and my boyfriend Dan are doing exactly the same thing in Dec. We land in Singapore on Dec 9th. Were also pushed for time- but we have 21 days! If I’ve understood you correctly you have one week to get thru’ Malaysia?
The top highlights and route we’ve selected (and been told to visit!) are:
Singapore to Mersing & Pulau Tioman
Meleka
Pulau Pangkor
Taman Negara National Park
Cameron Highlights
Georgetown
Pulau Lankawi
So therefore were mainly sticking to the West coast
(this also ties in with the monsoon season ie you miss it!) we also have been told to go to Perhentian Islands but they’re right on the top East coast of Malaysia and will take some getting to
It depends what you guys want to see,,,, beaches or national parks? The Cameron Highlands and Taman Negara National Parks are supposed to be out of this world ancient jungles with some great treks.. plus if your going to Thailand there’s plenty of beaches up there to see instead.
You’ll have to keep us updated on your trip.. you never know we could bump into each other!
Have a great trip
Sophia and Dan 😊
Reply to this Hi Sophia and Dan
Sorry about the really late reply, we've been so busy sorting things out for our trip as I'm sure you guys know.
You got our question spot on and the advice it really helpful, and actually quite similar to what friends have told us.
I think we're going to see a lot of beaches in Thailand and other places round the world, so I suspect we'll be quite in for a bit of culture and national parks.
Thanks again for the reply and hope you guys have a great trip. Be crazy if we see you there 😊.

Reply to this Hiya guys, no worries about the late reply- weve been doing the same. It seems to take a lot of planning for these things, especially when you're tight for time! We were getting all in a fluster about doing it all in 21 days, let alone one week!
Well we should definately keep in contact on this blog. We get to Singapore on the 9th December (my birthday!) 😊 so if we find any must see places on our way we'll write them up here for you guys!
Take care now
Sophia
