Reply to this Hi Leila,
Welcome to TravelBlog.
If you have any questions closer to the time, ask away 😊
Happy screaming!
Reply to this I did a skydive in australia mission beach when i was 16. there is nothing like the buzz!! 14,000ft falling for a whole minute was amazing id strongly recomentd it! 😊
Reply to this My last birthday present was from my Love, that I can do jump from an aircraft while skydive... well... it's going to be the first or maybe the last one... Bit nervous about it - but who would not be?...
Whatever, I'll try for the first time and I do scare about it a bit... - I say to myself... - You should get over your fears... (and don't try to confess me that nobody had ever been scared about it... - that's not exist... I know some people try to make proud themselves that they had no fear... )
We'll see... It's coming soon and I'm gonna definitely blog about it 😉.... Just wait a bit...
Reply to this Hi Ma'ri,
Good for you! And remember, courage isn't the absence of fear - its recognising there is something more important than fear 😊
I hope you have an amazing ride - don't forget to keep your eyes open!
Looking forward to the blog entry 😊
Reply to this Yeah - something is more important: LOVE 😉 I do everything for my love 😉... I'll do it and I'll be proud of it and I'll open my eyes 😉 ... Thank you Jo!!!
Reply to this By the way, I highly recommend paying the extra for still photos and videos.
Reply to this I did my skydive in probably the least glamourous place, Kent in England.
I was only 16 at the time & raised money for charity by doing the jump!
I agree with you Jo, you HAVE to get pictures & video, my video is on VHS so I need to find somewhere to convert it to DVD.
Reply to this Mine is also still on VHS, but I had a second copy made because I knew I would go close to wearing out the first one :-)
Reply to this I jumped in Taupo, New Zealand at 15,000 ft. It was amaazzzzinnggg!!! And for someone scared of heights it didn't bother me that much...the bungy on the otherhand 😊
I would definitely recommend skydiving to anyone - well worth the money!
Reply to this My first sky-dive was in Queenstown in January. Amazing! 15, 000ft. No issues at all. Had a great time and bought the photos and dvd. No cheap haha.
Reply to this Hi Jon,
Welcome to TravelBlog.
Agreed, not cheap - but well worth it! I'll bet you play that dvd a few times :-)

hi heart7 (and everybody else here),
i've been skydiving twice. once in miami, and the second time was in north carolina. i loved it boht times.
the second time around i asked the instructor what the requirements were for becoming a solo diver/ instructor.
i've since forgotten his response. how many dives do you need before you can go solo?
how are you liking your skydive classes?
Reply to this Hi bluegreenaide,
Welcome to TravelBlog.
It depends which course you take; usually either Accelerated Freefall (AFF), or Static Line.
I'm not currently jumping, but I got my licence through AFF, generally considered the better of the two because you are jumping from higher altitudes from the first jump - and with other skydivers around you (in this case jumpmasters) - so you are used to it from the start.
AFF required passing I think 6 stages, and a minimum of 15 jumps. After passing the stage in which you demonstrated an ability to control turns, the Drop Zone I was jumping at made us do a solo jump for confidence. A bit scary doing the jump completely by yourself, but a definite confidence booster.
Reply to this I should add, that was in New Zealand, but licence requirements are pretty standard - and once you are licenced it is valid world-wide.
Reply to this thanks jo trouble. after my second jump the instructor gave me a log book and wrote that i did a good job of arching when we jumped.
he even let me control the directions for a bit while we dropped.
great experience. i've been thinking about getting my instructor license for a while but still haven't really made a decision.
thanks for the info!
Reply to this Thats important - it's where your stability comes from.
Was your second jump also a tandem?
[Edited: 2011 May 31 20:14 - Jo Trouble:16935 ]
Reply to this yes, both of my jumps were tandem. it's been at least 3 years since my last jump.
Reply to this A couple of things to keep in mind:
1) it is an expensive sport to get into, but then things become much cheaper. And, you can even make a living out of it.
2)To stay safe you need to stay current, ie be jumping regularly.
