How bad over the next 4 weeks?

I would like to travel to Goa in 2 weeks, around the beginning of July. I understand that is right in the middle of the monsoon season. Is it best to skip this area this time of year? It seems if I spent a week there and it rained the entire time, it would not be fun. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated Reply to this

Hi Ryan, the monsoon has been delayed this year in India due to the recent cyclone - Aila. Now its difficult to predict when rains would start.

If it does rain in Goa by then, I would suggest skipping it, as all shacks and bars are shut. You will find a cheap nice place to stay as its off-season. However, the sea is not safe for swimming during rains and the beach is too wet to enjoy.

Good time to be in Goa is from October to March. Hopefully you have the privilege to plan your trip accordingly :-) Reply to this

I have done some travel in India for about a month and now will have one additional week to fill. I have seen a lot of really great cultural things so far. For the last week I wanted to go to a place that is touristy and beautiful.

I will spend a week somewhere and I thought as long as I am prepared for a lot of rain, Goa could still be beautiful and enjoyable. I know it isn't the best time to visit but I have a week to spend somewhere and it is the best place (per my looking for a touristy place) I can come up with. I am open to different suggestions. I greatly appreciate all of the responses. Reply to this

Well, Goa is fun anytime of the year and you've accepted the occasional downpour you'd be soaked in, guess you should go ahead and make the trip. You may not find too many tourists at this time of the year and many beach side bars and shacks also close but Goa has lots of Indians and Foreigners settled here and some prominent places such as Mambo's and Cavala are open through the year.

You can alternatively spend some time in Mumbai, Delhi or any other metro. However anywhere in India now, you'd be caught in the rains :-)

Mumbai has a lot of places to party, restaurants to eat, good places to stay & shop. Being the economic capital, its quite "touristy" round the year.

You can also do both Mumbai and Goa in a week, if you want to squeeze in two places.

Hope you have another fun week in India. Reply to this
