Hi,
What is the best way to cross from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh? Would it be by bus? And if so, do you know where I could find a timetable for bus trips as well as operators?
Thanks!
Reply to this last November while I was there I just bought a ticket on a 2 day trip up the Mekong Delta which included a bus tour, boat ride, overnight on floating hotel and then the guides, entry visa to Cambodia and then the bus ride from the border to to Phnom Penh. These packages were available from all the travel cafes in HCMC.
Reply to this Hi
You can get a bus. There are many different companies and the tickets are for sale in all tourist areas of HCMC, particularly the backpacker area.
Reply to this Thanks guys! 😊
Kris and Kate - do the busses run throughout the day? One website I found seemed to indicate they only left at 6am in the morning.
Reply to this I'm not sure. If they only go early in the morning it will be so that they can get through the border quickly, before it gets too busy.
It takes about 7 hours, and you want to arrive before it is dark.....
This website might help you.

Reply to this I'm a Vietnamese I think the best way you go from HCMC to Combodia you can ask at the hotel you are to take the taxi to to bus station. When you get there you can ask surround there. The ticket is more than 5 USD but less than 10 USD. Hopefully you get a great trip!!!!!

Reply to this You should catch a bus from hochiminh to Chau Doc then Take 3-hour boat trip to the Vinh Xuong border. Crossing the border, take 1-hour high speed boat to Lek Luang. Then land transfer to Phnom Penh by bus.
Reply to this Traveling by bus could be good experience though it will be tiring.
You can contact a company to hire a car or request buses for backpackers.
I think it's good.
Reply to this To reach Phnom Penh from Ho Chi Minh, the fastest way is to flight. However, there are two other options for you: by bus or by waterways.
There are many transport firms operate daily route from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and in return. This option seems to be tired but interesting. Sapaco or Mai Linh Express are examples.
An other way is to take a cruise from HCMC to Phnom Penh, if you have more time. I think you should take this option. This cruise offer you a memorable time when you cruise among thousands distributes of Mekong Delta, witness rural lifestyle along river banks. Firstly, you will cruise from Cai Be or My Tho to Chau Doc. The rest of the trip will be held on Cambodia land. It takes total about 5 hours to reach the harbor in Phnom Penh by express boat. A luxury cruise operated by CF Mekong give you more than comfortable but a little bit expensive.
Reply to this Timetable of the bus go to Phnompenh (Cambodia): 6:45am, 8am, 9am, 10am, 11:30am, 2pm and 3pm. The price is: 10usd. It takes 6 hours to go and more 25usd for visa.
If you would like to go by boat, you can go with a package tour through Mekong Delta. 3 days Mekong Delta tour and exit to Phnompenh costs 42usd (including bus, boat, accommodation, tour guide...)
