If you know the language, or know someone who does, it's best to bargain in Cantonese. If you bargain in English, they will try to rip you off since they know you are a tourist. Try to act as local as possible. Even if you aren't Chinese, that is okay because Hong Kong is pretty multicultural. If the vendor doesn't want to lower the price to what you asked for, then tell him/her that you saw the exact same thing for cheaper elsewhere..and pretend to start walking away. The key to bargaining is to always be able to walk away from it if they are not willing to meet your bargain price. Once you do that, they usually try to chase you back and say "okay okay your price is fine" or something like that anyway. Reply to this
