It's gonna be my first backpacking trip to Vietnam with 3 of my other friends 😊 and i wanna make it a blast ! I've been visiting many forums to gather enough info about Vietnam and to plan the trip and now we've decided on a 1 week trip to HCM -> Nha Trang (Many are raving about the beach!!) -> Hoi An. Next on the list, i need to start planning what to do at those 3 places, i'm very keen on sightseeing tours but then again we're on a strict budget of about 400Usd - 500Usd (accomodations, entertainment, food for entire week ): ). We're not worrying that much about accomodations because the site hostelworld provides quite sufficient reviews about each and every backpacker-friendly cheap stays.

Please please please help us, and give us advice on what to do and suggest how about we can travel between HCM -> Nha Trang -> Hoi An !!

Hi alicia
We traveled by train had a great time doing it that way from Hanoi to HCM . Stopping at Hue and Nha Trang. Hotel costs around 20$ a night for a room sleeping 2 . I think you could get a family room for 4 at around 30 to 35$ hope this helps. Reply to this

Sorry can't remember the price of the tickets but if you go to www.seat61.com you can get some idea of cost. Our trip from Hanoi to Hue we did ourselves at the train station the other two we got the hotels to do it for us at very little extra cost. Reply to this

Hi

You can go by bus too. Plenty of travel agents all over HCMC can sell you various bus tickets. They are cheap. I think it was about $8 from HCMC to Nha Trang last weekend.

Sightseeing tours are also pretty cheap. From HCMC we went on a tour of the Cau Dai temple and the Cu Chi tunnels. It cost us $7 each and it was well worth it.

There are some dorm rooms in Saigon too which might save you some money. Yellow House was one, I think beds there were something like $6 each.

And Vietnam has the cheapest beer in the world, beer hoi. It's usually about 3,000 dong a glass. Bottles of local beer start from about 14, 000 dong.

Have fun!

Thank you so much for the recommendations 😊

But i've heard from other people that train rides seems to be the more recommended transport as compared to buses. If i'm not wrong the traffic is rather conjested in Vietnam ? but anyway, i'm looking forward for the sightseeing tour!! is there any tour company that you recommend ? Reply to this

The traffic is awful in Vietnam, yes, you are right. Personally I prefer to fly the big distances. But if money is restricted then maybe you want to suffer the traffic!! Reply to this
