Hi.
Travelling by train is a big feature of my Asia trip this year and a really helpful website has been www.seat61.com. It gives you information about travelling anywhere in the world by train and it has proved invaluable in my planning. There is lots of information about India and it provides great links to the country's rail web for booking etc..

Hope this is of some help. Reply to this

Hello Chirs 😊

Yes, it can be done. Long journey though. If you want, you can buy your train ticket on the Indian train company website. As far as I heard it is reliable. irctc.co.in

Hi Chris,

You can easily travel by train from Mumbai to Goa. The best option would be an over-night train - MADGAON SUP SPL - Train No 0123. It leaves from Mumbai CST at 22:15 and reaches Madgaon (Goa) at 7:05. The fare for a II-Tier AC is about 1100 INR.

However this train only plies on Saturdays. There are other over night trains through the week but they take a couple of more hours to reach.

Mell has shared an amazing site with you, you can also get similar details on indianrail.gov.in

You can also take the bus from Mumbai, also takes about 11-12 hours to reach and is quite comfortable if you opt for a Semi-Sleeper AC Volvo. Would also cost about 800-1000 INR. Reply to this
