I am a Photographer Based in the netherlands, and i am currently trying to find a internship in Vietnam.
Hi fellow readers,
I am a 21 year old male, and dutch photographer, i have always been fascinated by photography, landscapes, rural country, and different cultures. I am currently in my last year of collage - photographic studies.
I speak fluently English, Dutch, and a tiny bit of Chinese Mandarin. I don't need much to get around, and eat pretty much everything that is given to me.
Currently i am searching for my next (and last) internship, preferably in Vietnam (duh...)Even though some people don't recommend me going to Vietnam i really want to go there. My mind ispretty much set on going there for the 6month period of my internship.
So could someone please inform me on the "do's & donts" of Vietnam?
And will i be able to handle daily life with English and Chinese Mandarin?
My apologies for being so bad at introducing myself, and typing texts.

Reply to this Hello Niek 😊
I am sure you can handle Vietnam. Lots of people go there who only know how to speak English.
I heard that touts and scams are a major problem in Vietnam, so be very vigilant about those. I also heard the traffic is scary. Apparently the secret is to avoid the urge to run accross the street in a panic. The thing to do is make eye contact with the driver and then walk accross the street at a normal pace even if the cars seem to be threatening to run you over.
A Lonely Planet guide to Vietnam may be a useful item for you. It gives information about everything from accomodation, to safety to health etc. It costs around 40 Euros and is available in most bookshops as well as on the internet.

Reply to this Hi Niek,
It's easy to go to Vietnam and take your intership there. I will help you to choose the resonable accommodation for student and program needed. To save cost for the trip, you do not need the professional guide but only the local guide to take you around for photographing.
Pls tell me how long you would like to spend your time in Vietnam and when you will go. Then I will give you the best advice.
Cheers,
Tina

This is a good source for you to get your behavior right while staying in Vietnam.
It's nice you come to Vietnam for photo taking. For me, Vietnam is nice for its countryside places as it reflects the true Vietnam.
There are many nice places in Vietnam that never been mentioned on travel websites. It's better to ask local photographers there.
Cheers,
