Phu Quoc Snorkeling

Looking for some feedback regarding snorkeling near Phu Quoc island in Vietnam.

We are heading to Phu Quoc island later this week.
We are interested n the snorkeling there, but have heard mixed reviews regarding the quality.
Some say, that the snorkeling is great and others have reported lots of dead coral and an irresponsible attitude from the local outfits regarding care of their aquatic treasures.

We've also heard that the local dive outfits love to take you out hunting for sea urchin which they BBQ up for you later in the day. Don't people realize that this contributes to the degradation of the reefs?

Does anyone have an experience they would like to share regarding this?
If the snorkeling is in fact good there, does anyone have a company to recommend that is eco friendly?

Not the best time of year there, but being an island you can always find somewhere out of the wind for diving. I was in the water everyday when I was there last year and loved the diving.

Found some nice places around the Northern End of the island directly opposite Cambodia. If you hire a motorbike you can ride right around the island although I would dive around the Northern End, some very secluded bays with reef within stone throw from beach. The Southern End is a bit dodgy around the port.

Dont worry about what Vietnamese eat of the reefs, They eat everything of anywhere. The Markets on the South Western end of the island have plenty of fresh seafood from the reefs including sea urchins daily. Reply to this
