Hello, i'm planning on travelling to SE Asia in the middle of May this year and am planning on travelling for three months through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia. I've done quite a bit of research into this area and everything looks amazing EXCEPT the weather - it being Monsoon season in most of this area May - October.

Anyway, can anyone give me some more detail about the weather - is it so bad that travelling overland is a nightmare? When it rains is it for days on end or just a quick downpour? Will i still be able to travel by boat to places? Do places shut-down during monsoon season? etc etc etc!! Unfortunately I have to go at this time of year for various reasons. Any advice at all would be brilliant, thanks! Reply to this

WET!! If you hear one raindrop. Run for it. As soon as one has fallen, the next lot will be torrential. But they don't last too long. Lots of half hour bursts. Reply to this

I've been there a few times before in the May-june months and never had a problem. Sure you get some days where it rains hard but there's nice days too. Certainly I wouldn't not go because you're worried about going, you'll still get more than enough sun to get many sunburns:D Reply to this

And guesthouse rooms in Thailand often cost less during the rainy season. And with fewer tourists, you will be unlikey to have the situation where you cant have the guesthouse that is your first choice. 😊
