is it open and is it cheaps ish still as the rest of asia seems so expencive from only 14 months ago........
any idea on bugets for two?? cheers bobby
Reply to this The islands are open - it's the earliest stage of the season - so;
Some accommodation won't be open.
The weather might be stormy.
It will be quieter than usual.
But you shouldn't get trapped there like can happen in Jan and Feb 😉 - and I know that some of my favourite diveshops and accommodation is open as of a few days ago.
Remember - no cash machines and high exchange rates on the island - so take cash with you.
As for prices - the small island is generally a little cheaper than the big one - you should be able to get a bungalow with bathroom for about ~70RM (Malaysian Ringget) nightly - or the most basic for ~30RM - Coral Bay is more relaxing for couples.
As for prices being expensive in Asia - I think most of what you're experiencing is due to currency fluctuations... if you're from the UK for example - 14 months ago - 7RM = 1GBP - now 5RM = 1GBP.
