I'd prefer to stay in the old part of town or near to the temples, in a hotel rather than a guest house. I'm willing to pay 1000 - 1500 Baht per night. Thanks.
Reply to this Ayuthaya is not that big and wherever you stay you will be close to the temples, and transportation around the town is easy. I stayed at the River View Place Hotel 2 years ago - beautiful views along the river; room was very comfortable, breakfast was a not particularly exciting buffet. If I remember correctly I paid just under 1,000 baht - may have gone up but I doubt by very much more. I never bothered to book - most tourists visit on a day trip and not many stay overnight. If you are traveling from this month onwards, with the high season practically over, you could just arrive and take a look at different hotels - there is a cluster of them along the river.
Hope this helps
