I am having a visa related stress and would be grateful if anyone knows the answer to my questions
Hi
I am trying to apply for a tourist (L) visa for China. I am a UK passport holder and I was trying to use the online application on the VisaforChina.org web page. Whatever I put in the boxes it won't let me proceed to the next page. Does anyone know why?
Being that I could not get it to work I decided to just print off the forms instead. It says that I need the name of a contact or inviter. Am I right in thinking that this is a general form and I don't need this information for a tourist visa?
Finally has anyone applied by post. How long did it take? I am feeling the time pressure!
Thanks
Laura

When I was applying for my Indian tourist visa the form asked for an inviter too. I filled in the name of a hotel. I named a fancier one then the one we would actually be staying in, just in case. Maybe you can also put your consulate in the inviter part of the form. People sometimes do that when filling in Indian tourist visas too.
Maybe the Chinese tourist visa forms are like the Indian one. ie they are asking the question but dont really care what the answer is.

Thanks for that Mell. I have managed to do it online now. I think it may have not been working due to the fact I was using Firefox. When I swapped to Explorer it seemed ok. Lets hope we get the Visa!
Reply to this Yeah, good luck with it, and let us know how it goes. 😊
Reply to this I have got my visa :-)
If anyone applies via post I just wanted to let them know that the "track your application" bit of the webpage takes a long time to be updated. We had our visas before it said they were being processed.
The whole thing took 2 weeks and that was over Chinese New Year so it is pretty quick
