We are two old backpackers that like to visit one small region of Asia every year. Unfortunately we only have two weeks in which to do it. Last year we flew to Phnom Penh for a couple of days, then caught the bus up to Siem Reap and visited the Angkor temples. This was an excellent trip with just the right amount of things to do and see in 2 weeks.

We would be grateful if anyone had visited somewhere they would recommend for our next little jaunt.

Thanks

Why don't you go to Vietnam (if you've not been of course) and take somewhere? Halong (2 days, overnight on board) and Hue, Hoi an to see the old quarter (some days) and Huong River trip, Sapa to visit minor ethnic village and Love Market.
And not only these locations. Reply to this

Hi Frank,

If you have visited Phnompenh and Siem Reap, I think that you should visit Vietnam for this year.
Vietnam is a " Hidden Charm" now and you should be the first to explore them. There are alot of destinations for you to enjoy.
Maybe you have ever heard some information about Vietnam's scenery, However you cannot imagine how beautiful and misterious it is if you don't "taste" it on your own.
you can experience the huge and mystery of mountains and caves in Halong Bay or Phong Nha cave.
Or you can take a trekking tour in Sapa and have chance to meet some minority people on the mountains.
You also will have a moment of living in history when you visit Royal Palace of Hue, or the old town of Hoian as well as many churches and pagodas.
Go southwards you will have chance to relax at a long white sandy beaches such as Nhatrang, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Furthermore, you can enjoy some interesting activities here such as diving or fishing.
There are more to see but in this small letter, I cannot introduce all of them to you. I am sorry for that.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me at any time. I am willing and pleased to help you.

Have a nice day!

why don't you go to Palawan in the PHilippines? Especially if you are into diving. Or go to the North of Luzon Island - Sagada, Banaue, Vigan and Pagudpud would be nice. Now these are the highlands. vigan is one of the UNESCO's world heritage sites since it has been this way for the last 300 years or so. Reply to this

Hi? I'd suggest you to visit Mongolia. Mongolia is not well known and felt really remote for Europeans..., but actually it's a really great place to visit. Almost everywhere is so natural and old except the capital city. You'll have a chance to discover Mongolian Nomadic culture and horse riding across the steppe and beautiful mountains. You'll feel like riding at the time of Genghis Khan.

Well, make a good choice, good luck! But if you think aboutn going to Mongolia or want to find some informations about rates and other things, don't hestate to contact me, i'll be happy to assist you! my e-mail address is :

Tuvshin
