First Night Accomodation - Ho Chi Minh

Just looking for some advice on whether or not to pre-book accommodation for first night in Ho Chi Minh. Any other advice or help would also be great! Cheers.

Hello people,

This is my first post on this forum. I'm flying in to Ho Chi Minh on January 18 from Melbourne, Australia. The proposed time of landing is 8.30pm (no doubt there will be delays). I've never been outside Australia, let alone to Vietnam. Should I book a night of accommodation? Like most people who go backpacking, i'll be trying to do everything as cheap as i can, but i don't mind paying extra if it means that the experience is alot better. If i was arriving in the morning i wouldn't worry about booking, but arriving that late makes me think that maybe i should book in advance.

I've been doing a fair bit of reading on this forum with regard to what to do and where to travel, stay etc. It's great. Any other advice that people have for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading! I'll be travelling around Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand for 6 weeks (January 18 - February 26 09) with 2 friends.

Hi Brennan,

Welcome to TravelBlog.

It's a good idea to book at least the first night's accomodation in a new city, particularly if arriving late. If you don't like the place you can easily move elsewhere the next day.

Hostelworld.com is worth checking out. Reply to this

Hi Jo,

Thanks for your reply and your help. Much appreciated. I've booked a room for the first night over there.

Well you should always set your plans in advance for the best trip, and to avoid scams.
