Urgent Advice needed for accommodation in Hanoi tonight.

Please please can someone recommend a decent Hotel to stay in or around Hanoi. We have seen about 30 - 40 hotels all with SCAM warnings against them.

It's like a minefield out there and we have ZERO knowledge of Hanoi. We are arriving this evening after spending 2 days trying to find somewhere SCAM free on the web.

Please help to make our Christmas an enjoyable one.

Cheers

Ok so we made it here - I guess Christmas Eve isn't the time to expect forum postings 😊. If you take the non vietnam airlines shuttle bus that also costs $2 make sure you get off at the right place (i.e. Old Quarter) otherwise you will end up at a Bus Terminal where Taxi's are waiting to pounce on you. The number 17 bus (5000 Vietnam Dong) also goes to the edge of the Old Quarter.

I'll update the post once I know the hotel we are staying in is ok. We know that the Queen Plaza, Queen 2, Old Street and Queen Star Hotels are NOT GOOD. AVOID THESE!! If there is more than 1 sign up and/or they have different business cards then personally you should be wary.

Cheers

Hi,
take the airlines bus with 2USD, it stop at old quarter(walk about 500m) is centre of old quarter. About Hotel try Majesty hotel, King Ly hotel....almost mini hotels in the old quarter, dont worry, you can arrive and then book your hotel Reply to this

I've got pictures of you guys sharing a room with an ox, ass and a manger for a bed 😊

Hope you find somewhere good - and it will make a great story - have a great Christmas! Reply to this

Wow thanks Ali - We feel honoured that you responded 😉

So to close this thread and provide some help to others, we have stayed in Hanoi and can recommend some places to stay:

1) Viet Anh (Ma May Street) - 3 Star Hotel ($25-$45)
2) Tung Trang Hotel (13 Tam Thuong Alleyway, between 38- 40 Pho Hang Bong in the old quarter)- 2 Star Hotel ($13-$20)

Avoid anything with "Queen" in it as there are too many clone hotels and any hotel that has more than one name

on the front of it!! also North Star Hotel in Tam Thuong Alleyway had insects, a leaking toilet and dirty.

Hope this helps a few people out. Reply to this
