Hi,
Im heading to Thailand in mid feb for a couple weeks in feb and i prefer to see a swarm of mosquitos to a swarm of tourists, does anyone know of nice places to visit that are still good to see without all the foreigners?
Reply to this Hello Mark 😊
The foreigners usually congregate around certain areas of towns and villages. If you stay in guesthouses outside these areas you will see less of them. I would stay away from the sunny Southern Islands such as Koh Samui etc if you want to get away from foreigners because most parts of those islands are popular with tourists.
But why pick Thailand if you want to avoid tourists? It is probably the most popular Asian country for tourists. What about trying Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan or one of the other countries that only receive a trickle of foreign visitors.

Reply to this Thanks for the info,
Yes I know that I shouldnt pick Thailand if I dont want tourists but im doing a yoga immersion for a week there and am meeting my girlfriend there as it is a cheap hub to get in from other countries and we have a few weeks to kill before moving on. I know that there are loads of tourists but im sure we can have a great time in some places that arent so popular.
Thanks
Reply to this hi mate.iv spent alot of years around thailand.if you want a quiet island try koh chang.lonely beach is fiarly quiet.just off those are koh meed and koh hood.really quiet but around 1500 bht per nite to stay in.5 min bike ride from lonely beach is a small beach just past ban bow(bad spelling) which will have only a few dudes there as well

May be a bit late on this post but why not try a home stay? Can recomend Ampawa in Samut Songkram but I don't have any addresses or contacts.Just turn up and you'll probably be OK as long as it's not a weekend or holiday. There's also a very good one at Senabut that one is a bit hard to find.Perhaps try a Thai travel agency and they may be able to help.
