A friend and I are planing on hitting Thailand next August.
We are both in our early 20s and lokoing for a fun adventure holiday with all the touristy bits thrown in too. All tips welcome!
Thanks!! Reply to this

Hello Linda 😊

General questions like that are difficult to answer because there are so many things to do in Thailand. What about you buy a copy of the Lonely Planet guide for Thailand. As well as suggestions about things to do it gives practical information about accomodation, safety, transport...... It costs around 35 Euros and is available in most book shops around the world for around 35 Euros and also on the internet.

Take a trip to Chiang Mai in the North and from there by bus to Pai and Mae Hong Son. You will meet mountains, jungle, rivers (Riverrafting?), hilltribes and hotels and guesthouses in every price range. Chiang Mai will be more touristy, Mae Hong Son more authentic. From Mae Hong Son take a trip to a Karen refugee village by boat on Pai river. A lot of background you find here:

Or you can cruise through the streets of Chiang Mai with a 360 degree view of the town here:

Linda,
I would have to agree with Mel that the question is extremley general. Much like if I asked what to do in Ireland.

Here are a few things to consider for additional research:

-- Experience Khoa San Road in Bangkok--Insanity at it's finest

-- Take the river taxi in Bangkok for 10 or 15 Baht--cheap entertainment and a good way to get around.

-- Experience the complete massage deals--cheap and effective

-- Chaing Mai offers a whole new world. Trekking, massage classes, cooking classes, cheap dental work, great night market, Sunday market. Wait until you get there and figure out what to do. Plan on extending your trip here.

-- Take full advantage of the southern beaches and islands--stay in a bungalow.

-- Eperience the Full Moon Party on Ko Chaing

-- Ride in a tuk tuk, just once--beware of deals too good to be true unless you want to be taken "for a ride"

-- Experience the hippie/zen scene in Pai and Tonsai

MY best advise is to read the journals from Thailand and see what other bloggers are saying about Thailand. These are first hand accounts of our experiences from the road. Guide books are great information, but I rely more on first hand accounts from fellow travellers.

We have spent 30 days in Thailad and head out to Vietnam in the morning. n We will be returning for another 30 days after Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

So much to do, so little time.

Happy research and Happy tails.

There are lots of things that you can do in Thailand. If you want shopping, Bangkok is a good place. But if you want great beaches you can visit Phi Phi island, great beaches there. 😊 Reply to this

If you go Bangkok, remember to watch their so-called "Ah Gua" show, it's fantastic.. if you wanna buy cheap stuffs in Bangkok, go their biggest market in Chatuchak which only open during weekend morning. enjoy! Reply to this
